MINUTES
The Meeting was brought to order at 10:05 AM by President Craig Patton. Introductions were made by the delegates.
1. MOVED by Randy Whitehead (Matthew Halton): To Adopt the Minutes of the Spring Meeting, May 2, 2012 in Lethbridge. SECOND: Dave Rozdeba (Eagle Butte) CARRIED
2. Voting Strength: 34 delegates signed the Attendance sheet. 2 guests.
3. Business Arising from last Meeting
- Vice President –Duane Konynenbelt (Immanuel Christian) volunteered.
- Zone Commissioner changesare reflected on the list at the end of these minutes
- Rugby and T&F Provincials on the same week-end is a huge concern. Toby will express our concern at the ASAA APM.
4. Communication:
1. Guest: John Paton, ASAA Executive Director John thanked the schools who hosted events in 2012-13 and outlined ASAA initiatives; in particular, the latest news on WeCoach and AIAAA. See John’s report
2.Ever Active Schools: Focus Group on nutritional offerings at school sport events will meet in Lethbridge. Marg will attend as well as some school reps
5. Financial Statement – MOVED by Tyler Speelman (St Michael’s PC): To accept the 2012-13 year–end Financial Statement SECOND: Todd Lybbert (Willow Creek) CARRIED.
6. AIAAA Report – Dave Rozdeba reported on the recent activity of AIAAA. There will be a Conference June 19-21, 2014 in Calgary. We will also book a Course for our February Zone Meeting (note: SZJHAA passed a motion to pay for one delegate/school for this course) A minimum of 12 delegates needed.
7. Reports / Information on Zone competitions:
- T&F report – Marg reported on a successful Zone Track Meet held in Lethbridge in June.
- RUGBY report –Craig reported on the Rugby Zones in Lethbridge
- GOLF: 1A/2A report (Willow Creek) and 3A/4A report (Chinook, at Magrath) reported. Zones went well; however, some individual athletes chose not to attend Provincials due to loss of school time.
3. CROSS-COUNTRY: Oct 9at Echo Dale. Entries to Marg by Wednesday, Oct 2, Hy-Tek OR Excel
4. VOLLEYBALL: Zone banners and medals are to be picked up by hosts at this Meeting
8. ZONE NOTICES OF MOTION: None submitted.
9. Bids for Provincials:
1. SAIAC: 4A Boys and Girls BB, March 2015 Second: Toby Boulet APPROVED
2. Stirling: 1A Boys Basketball, March 2015 Second: Tyler Speelman (St Michael’s PC) APPROVED
3. Golf bid for Sept 2014 needs to be submitted (South is on the rotation)
10. Delegates to ASAA Fall Planning Meeting in Red Deer Dec 5, 6, 2013 (Thurs, Fri) : Marg Derbyshire, Craig Patton, Toby Boulet

1. Zone Award of Merit – Oct 1 nomination deadline. MOVED by Jon Vande Griend (Picture Butte) : To honour Mike Myndio with the 2014 Zone Award of Merit Second: Toby Boulet CARRIED
