2010 AUSTRALIAN OUTRIGGER CANOE CHANGEOVER MARATHON TEAM

SELECTION CRITERIA SUPPLEMENT

This supplement is to be read in conjunction with the By Law 9 Selection Procedures, which is applicable to allDisciplines.

1. EVENTS

1.1 The events for which teams representing Australia and AOCRA will be selected in the Discipline of Changeover Marathons in the year 2010 are:

(a) 2010 Hamilton Island Cup 42km Changeover event – 27thJune 2010

(b) 2010 Molokai Hoe to be held in Hawaii - 10thOctober 2010 (male competition only)

(c) 2010 Na Wahine to be held in Hawaii - 26thSeptember 2010 (female competition only)

2. SELECTION INFORMATION

2.1 All athletes who compete in Selection Events defined at 4.1 will be deemed to have nominated for selection, unless the athlete advises otherwise.

2.2These criteria may be amended or supplemented by the Management Committee of AOCRA from time to time in its absolute discretion. AOCRA shall provide as much notice of such change asis possible to all affected athletes, State Centres, Zones and others as determined by the AOCRAManagement Committee and in accordance 3.2 and 3.3 of the Selection Procedures Bylaw.

3. DEFINITIONS

“Athlete” means a financial member of AOCRA and an Affiliated Club, who is over the age of 18 years of age at the time of events defined at 1.1.

“Selection Procedures Bylaw”Means the Bylaw adopted by the Management Committee of AOCRA that governs theselection of Athletes to AOCRA Teams.

“Training Squad” Means a group of athletes that has met the initial Selection criteria for an event defined in 1.1.

”Final Squad” Means those members of a Training Squad who have met the Final Selection Criteria for an event defined in 1.1.

4. SELECTION EVENTS

4.1 The following events are the Selection Events for the Training Squad to compete in the events as detailed in 1.1:

(a) 2009 AOCRA National OC1/OC2 Marathon Titles held at Coffs Harbour, 5th & 6th December 2009.

(b)2010 AOCRA National OC6 Marathon Titles held at Mooloolaba, 10th & 11th April 2010.

To be selected for the Training Squad, and qualify for the Final Squad to compete in the events as detailed in 1.1, an athlete must be free to tourwith the Team from:

(a)All female and male athletes - 24th June to 28th June 2010

(b)For males athletes – 4th October to 13th October 2010

(c)For female athletes - 20th September to 29th September 2010

To be eligible for selection for the Training Squad and qualify for the Final Squad to compete in the events as detailed in 1.1, an athlete or crew must compete in Senior (Open, Master, Senior Master, Golden Master) OC1 craft in the Long Course race for Selection Event 4.1 (a), or in Senior (Open only) class Long Course event for Selection Event 4.1 (b).

5. SELECTION CRITERIA FOR THE 2010 HAMILTON ISLAND CUP 42KM CHANGEOVER EVENT

– 27TH JUNE 2010

5.1A Training Squad of 2 crews of 9 athletes for male (18 athletes in total) and 10 athletes for female (20 athletes in total) will be selected to compete at 1.1 (a).

5.2Training Squad – an initial training squad of 24 athletes for each gender, male and female will be selected.

(a) The first 12 athletes based on time who successfully complete Selection Event 4.1 (a) in each of the male and female categories, will gain qualification for the Training Squad.

(b) The first 2 teams based on time who successfully complete Selection Event 4.1 (b) in each of the male and female categories, will gain qualification for the Training Squad

(c) In the event that an athlete/s gains qualification in both Selection Event 4.1 (a) and (b), the Selection Panel at their absolute discretion may select further athletesfrom the next successful qualifying team/s from Selection Event 4.1 (b) to make up an Training Squad of 24 athletes from each gender, male and female. For example, the Selection Panel may consider those teams that successfully completed Event 4.1 (b) from the position of 3rd place onwards.

5.3Final Squad – a final squad of 18 male athletes and 20 female athletes will be selected from the Training Squad to compete at Event 1.1(a).

5.4Final Selection Criteria – a training camp will be held on Sunday 11th April 2010 from 7am to 4pm at Mooloolaba, Queensland. The Selection Panel will utilise a variety of testing techniques which may include Concept 2 Ergo trials, OC1 trials, changeover trials, and OC6 seat position changes and blending.These results and data, and the results of Selection Events 4.1 (a) and (b) will be collated by the Selection Panel, and utilised by the Selection Panel at their absolute discretion, to eliminate 4 female athletes, and 6 male athletes from the Training Squad.

6. SELECTION CRITERIA FOR THE 2010 MOLOKAI HOE – 10TH OCTOBER 2010.

6.1Only those athletes who have qualified for the Final Squad for Event 1.1 (a) will be eligible for Selection for the Final Squad for Event 1.1 (b).

6.2Final Squad – a Final Squad of 9 male athletes and 1 male reserve athlete will be selected from the Final Squad from Event 1.1 (a)

6.3Final Selection Criteria – a training camp will be held at a date to be determined in South East Queensland. The Selection Panel will utilise a variety of testing techniques which may include Concept 2 Ergo trials, OC1 trials, changeover trials, and OC6 seat position changes and blending. Additionally, data will be collected by the Selection Panel on the performance of athletes at Event 1.1 (a). These results and datawill be collated by the Selection Panel, and utilised by the Selection Panel at their absolute discretion, to eliminate 8 male athletes from the Training Squad.

7. SELECTION CRITERIA FOR THE 2010 NA WAHINE – 26th SEPTEMBER 2010.

7.1Only those athletes who have qualified for the Final Squad for Event 1.1 (a) will be eligible for Selection for the Final Squad for Event 1.1 (c).

7.2Final Squad – a Final Squad of 10 female athletes and 1 female reserve athlete will be selected from the Final Squad from Event 1.1 (a)

7.3Final Selection Criteria – a training camp will be held at a date to be determined in South East Queensland. The Selection Panel will utilise a variety of testing techniques which may include Concept 2 Ergo trials, OC1 trials, changeover trials, and OC6 seat position changes and blending. Additionally, data will be collected by the Selection Panel on the performance of athletes at Event 1.1 (a). 8. EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES

8.1For the purposes of determining whether an Athlete/Crew has met the Requirements of thisSelection Criteria Supplement, AOCRA will not have regard to any extenuatingcircumstances.
