Training Together – “British Values in a Church School Setting”. This workshop looks to discuss the roots and worth of “British Values” and see how to promote them within a more universal context of Gospel values and Christian praxis. May be of particular interest to RE and Collective Worship coordinators and anyone who leads Collective Worship in school. Sessions are taking place on 7 March, in Gungrog School, Welshpool; 9 March in Ysgol Esgob Morgan, St Asaph or 15 March in St Mary’s School, Ruabon. Leading School Worship, Tuesday 12 April, 7-9pm in St Joseph’s Catholic and Anglican High School, Wrexham. Trainer: Mary Stallard. Mary is a priest in the diocese working as Director of the St Giles' RE/Faith Development Centre and Anglican Chaplain at St Joseph's Catholic and Anglican High School, Wrexham. For all who lead collective worship in schools as lay or ordained ministers. The aim of the evening would be to examine the factors that enable the provision of good worship in school communities. In this session we will be looking at some examples of good practice and highlighting useful resources, considering the stages of planning, resourcing, delivering and monitoring worship and enabling participants to share experience and grow in confidence in leading prayer in schools.

ACAT Foundation Course for Treasurers. The Association of Church Accountants and Treasurers is running a Foundation Course in Chester on Saturday 11 June. The course gives an overview of the responsibilities of a Church Treasurer and is not denomination specific. All Church Treasurers are member of ACAT and are therefore eligible to attend. The Big Sleep, a fundraising event in aid of Homes for Veterans, is taking place in St Asaph Cathedral on 4 March. We only ask you to experience one night out in the cold, but there are many Veterans who are homeless and have to sleep out night after night. Mark Yaconelli’s Residency: The Hearth Project – One of the key strands of Mark’s work during his six month residency is training people to engage better with their local community, through the running of Hearth Projects. These are community events, planned around a specific theme and designed to get people from different walks of life to communicate by sharing their story. This is pioneering and innovative work which has been shown to boost community spirit and put the church back into the center of community life. We’re excited to be offering 60 people from across the diocese the opportunity to participate in these training events, which will lead on to future Hearth Projects. There are three training sessions planned (one for each archdeaconry) and then a final diocesan event.If you are interested in taking part, please contact your area dean as soon as possible. St Asaph Choral Society with the North Wales Philhamonia (leader Edward Davies) will hold their spring concert at 7.30 pm on Saturday 16 April 2016 in St Asaph Cathedral. The programme will include Mass in C by Beethoven, Te Deum and Songs of the Fleet by Stanford. The soloists will be Pippa Goss (soprano), Margaret McDonald (alto), Christopher Steele (tenor) and Allan Fairs (bass) and the Conductor, Graham Eccles. Church groups are being invited to take part in a Wales-wide film project to help build tolerance and understanding of LGBT communities.
The project is an extension of the Iris Prize, the world’s largest LGBT short film prize, and is called Iris Prize Outreach. The Bishops have given their support to this project, which aims to promote equality, diversity and community cohesion, and are encouraging all church groups who might be interested to take part. “Chairs galore!” - United Reformed Church, Rhos-on-Sea have a set of about 100 light wooden chairs available. They have tweed blue seats and are in excellent condition. There is a book rack on the back and small linking brackets to the sides which could easily be removed. Twenty or so of the chairs have arms, the others are without.Available in quantities of any size from a single chair.

Introduction to the Diocese Day - We are arranging an introduction to the Diocese day at the Diocesan office for new clergy and any others within the Diocese who would like to attend on 15 March. It will be an all day event and lunch will be included. We would like to encourage all those new in the Diocese to attend.
