Additional Information: Note that this position is subject to weekend shifts approx. 2 weekends per month and/or in emergency circumstances.
Salary Range: $19.46 - $25.94 per hour
($40,476.80 - $53,955.20 per annum)
Proposed Start Date 01/13/2018
Probation/Trial Period 1044 hours worked
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
An Agricultural degree or diploma from a recognized university or college is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Two years of directly related experience in care and handling of poultry in a broiler or layer operation is required.
- Experience with personal computers, specialized databases and computerized record keeping systems such as Excel is required.
- A valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License is required.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Must be able to keep accurate records, make calculations and compile, summarize and prepare reports.
- Must have good electronic record keeping skills and good animal husbandry practices.
- Good oral and written communication skills and ability to relate effectively with students, staff and the general public are required.
- Aptitude for operating, handling and maintaining farm machinery, vehicles and other farm related equipment is required.
- Demonstrated ability to use a computer, electronic devices and routine software programs such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be able to demonstrate good judgement and decision making skills.
- Must possess a philosophy compatible with animal based research.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Lifting and carrying up to 40 kg may be required.
- Will involve weekend work (approximately 2 weekends per month - additional weekends in emergency circumstances).
- No allergies to dander, odours and ammonia.
