Job Title:DeputyCommunity Projects Manager

Grade:SCP 32-36: £28,356 – £31,436

Hours:37 hours per week

Responsible to:Head of Community Projects

Background: Father Hudson’s Society, also known as Father Hudson’s Care, is the social care agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham. Our Community Projects are local partnerships, diverse in provision, vary in size from small to larger with a wider reach, and are delivered by staff and volunteer teams. They reach out to those who need support: asylum seekers and refugees, older people, people with disabilities, people who are homeless, people suffering poverty and deprivation, and people who are marginalised.

This post will be involved with a variety of community projects Father Hudson’s Care is involved in, such as Embrace in Worcester and Young at Heart in North Staffordshire reaching out to isolated older people, Fatima House providing accommodation to destitute female asylum seekers, volunteering services in our Coleshill base, the planned Tabor House night shelter in Birmingham, donations and practical resource provision, Caritas Archdiocese of Birmingham and working with local parishes and parish projects, as well as other new projects which are being developed.

Job Purpose:

To assist the Head of Community Projects inmanaging and developing Community Projects Managers/Coordinators/Leads across the Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham.

1Provide line management to existing and new projects as allocated.

2Deputising for the Head of Community Projects where necessary.

3Supporting new and existing community projects with project management, development and funding.

Main Duties:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

1Provide line management and supervision to Community Projects Managers/Coordinators/ Leads as allocated.

2Provide management, support, guidance and advice to allocated Community Projects to ensure their compliance with Father Hudson’s Care Policies and Procedures, preparing local policies and procedures where required.

3Participate in the recruitment of project staff and volunteers.

4Oversee the construction, implementation and regular review of project aims, objectives and delivery. Monitor and evaluate Project outcomes with Community Projects Managers/ Coordinators/Leads

5Deputise for the Head of Community projects where necessary, attending meetings and supporting other community projects.

FUNDRAISING, SERVICE DEVELOPMENT AND NETWORKING

1Represent Father Hudson’s Care on partnership project boards and management committees; building relationships with key partners.

2Support allocated projects with development opportunities including new service planning, increasing staff and volunteer teams to meet the need, networking and fundraising.

3Share identified needs and opportunities for new Projects with the Head of Community projects by networking with Parishes, Schools, Diocesan organisations and other Voluntary and Statutory Agencies.

4Working with the Head of Community Projects, the Fundraising Department and Community Projects Managers/Coordinators/Leads research and make applications for funding from various sources, taking the lead on applications as required. These will includegrant making trusts, statutory agencies and donations.

5Manage and monitor allocated funds, be accountable for their application and provisionof financial reporting, with support from the Finance and Accounts department.

6Develop a strategy for managing the donations of practical resources required and received across Father Hudson’s Care community projects; mapping out the needs, existing capacity, highlighting the gaps/issues and planning solutions.

7Work with the Head of Community Projects to assist in the development of the Archdiocese of Birmingham Caritas network, including the organisation of events, activities and parish networking.

GENERAL DUTIES

1Prepare reports and attend internal and project meetings/committees as required.

2To ensure that Health & Safety Procedures are implemented and that any breaches are dealt with promptly.

3Carry out any other reasonable tasks commensurate with the role.

4Work evenings and weekends as required.
