JOB TITLE:Marketing & Communications Officer
LOCATION:LOROS Hospice, Groby Road, Leicester
HOURS OF WORK:37.5 hours per week
REPORTING TO:Marketing & Communications Manager
JOB PURPOSE:
This exciting new role will join the marketing and communications teamat LOROS. The role will support the Marketing and Communications Manager to help ensure that there is an integrated approach to marketing and communications activities across the organisation.
The role will primarily support all income generation activities (fundraising activities and events, our 25 shops and retail activity, and the LOROS Lottery). The role will maximise awareness of LOROS, the impact of our campaigns, events and activities and increase the level of funds which are raisedby working to develop relationships with both new and existing supporters.
The role will provide media relations, support the development and use of the LOROS brand, provide expertise to campaigns, activities and events, and assist in the development and production of LOROS wide communications.
KEY TASKS:
- To support the Marketing & Communications Manager in delivering LOROS’ marketing and communication programme with supporters and the general public to ensure LOROS is effectively promoted within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
- To be the charity’s brand ambassador, providing advice on consistent use of the charity’s brand and supporting the development of the brand guidelines.
- Identifying opportunities, and suggesting creative ideas, for raising the profile of LOROS and increasing voluntary income in line with the organisation’s strategic goals and income generation objectives.
- Undertake regular research of the charity sector, including competitor, SWOT and risk analyses, to support the development and implementation of the marketing and communications strategy, and for campaigns, activities and events.
- To support the Marketing & Communications Manager in co-ordinating LOROS’ communication programme with supporters and the general public. Specifically this will involve the LOROS magazine, enewsletter programme, press releases, direct mail, event collateral, awareness campaigns, leaflets, adverts, and the development and use of patient stories, as well as advising on legacy marketing.
- Planning, delivering and leading integrated campaigns/projects; being the point of contact for staff within the income generation teams and working with them on their requirements/brief, including offering recommendations and advice where needed.
- Delivering on projects/campaigns in a timely, planned and relevant manner, keeping staff fully informed at all times and ensuring you keep within pre-determined budgets.
- Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on projects/campaigns.
- Co-ordinating, developing and maintaining media relations to maximise publicly for campaigns, activities and events.
- To draft and distribute press releases/comments/responses and secure media interviews to achieve media coverage. To plan and execute media events and photo calls. To be the first point of contact for media queries, liaising with other team members as appropriate. To maintain and develop strong relationships with all local journalists and continuously update our database of media contacts.
- Planning, managing and delivering direct mail campaigns on time and to budget. Working with the CRM Officer on the development, structure and exploitation of Raisers’ Edge, LOROS’ supporter database to maximise segmentation and the enablement of targeted communications.
- Copywriting and proofreading for different marketing collateral, ensuring the appropriate tone of voice is used.
- To co-ordinate the development of marketing materials which meet the needs of different audiences and to ensure that such materials are developed on time and to budget. Work with the designer to develop effective and engaging artwork.
- To manage relationships with external agencies involved in PR and marketing, the charity’s designers, printers and photographers.
- Have responsibility for conducting interviews, sourcing case studies, quotes, videos and photographs from various stakeholders adhering to the consent process.
- To support the design, writing, publication and scheduling of web content, develop social media campaigns and analyse activity and impact.
- Undertake ad hoc projects and work as directed by the Marketing & Communications Manager, and deputise for them when they are absent.
- To support the Marketing & Communications Manager on internal communications to LOROS staff and volunteers.
- To help at events, which will include working outside of regular contracted hours as required.
- To network effectively for mutual benefit with other charities and in particular other hospices and Hospices UK.
- Engaging in continuous professional development to ensure that you are up-to-date with current trends and practices in marketing and communications.
