• Spring Garden Update

March 13, 2018

  • Kindergarten registration is THIS WEEK! If you have a child who will be attending kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year, registration is March 12-16, 2018. You do not need an appointment to register between 8 am and 2 pm, but please call us if you need to make other arrangements. It is very important for staffing and class organization that we have as many students registered this week as possible, however we will be able to accept registrations later. Please spread the word to neighbors, friends and family!
  • We are constantly examining our policies and practices closely to ensure the best possible safety for your children. CCPS policy requires that EVERY adult visiting SGE during the school day present government issued photo ID. This applies to everyone, whether visiting or volunteering, including those who come in on a daily basis. We appreciate all who come to support children and staff members, but it is important that we are consistent and as safe as possible. Please get into the habit of having your driver’s license each and every time you come to school and we will process your visitor ID as quickly as possible. We appreciate your understanding!
  • Would you like to take an evening off from cooking? Would you like SGE staff members to serve you? Come out to McDonald’s this Thursday from 4-7 pm for McTeacher Night! We look forward to seeing a huge SGE turnout and we will earn 10% of the sales for the playground fund. There will be raffles for prizes throughout the evening!
  • Gertrude Hawkorders will be delivered to school on Friday, March 16th. Depending on the time of delivery, we hope to send orders home on Friday. If delivery does not occur until the end of the day, it will come home on Monday. Parents may pick up larger orders in school between 6:30 am and 3 pm or call the office to make other arrangements.
  • Field Day 2018 is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15th (raindate, Thursday, May 17th). Field Day T-shirts are now on sale. A portion of the sale will be donated to the Playground Fund. See attached order form.
  • Several Spring Garden students have had their artwork displayed at the Carroll County Arts Council, 91 West Main Street, in Westminster. This art show features artwork from all Carroll County schools and is a celebration of Youth Art Month. The show runs through March 14th. We have attached a list of these artistic students.
  • Our next PTA dining night out will be on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Greenmount Station. Be sure to check out D's Magic while you are there from 6-8 p.m. that evening! The event takes place all day so feel free to pick up lunch or dinner. All proceeds raised from the dining night outs go right back to the students.
  • Spring Garden will participate in The Battle of the Books on Friday, April 6th! From 5-8 pm there will be a Cocoa House in the Media Center at Manchester Valley High School. This is open to ALL families, regardless of participation in Battle of the Books. There will be a story time, face painting, balloon animals, bookmark creations, drama productions, and much more. Chocolate refreshments will also be offered.
  • Yearbooks are on sale now! The deadline to order yearbooks is THIS FRIDAY, March 16th. Payment can be sent to the main office or visit and use yearbook ID code 11060918 to order online.
  • The Garden Party will be here before we know it! While it isn’t until May 19th, we would like to start gathering donations now so we don’t burden families right before the event. We would greatly appreciate donations of soda at this time. The Garden Party is only successful because of the wonderful donations and volunteer time of people like you. Keep an eye out for updates as we continue to plan!
  • We are also reaching out to businesses for donations to the silent auction portion of the Garden Party. If you would like to assist with a donation or know of a business that is willing to donate, please reach out to Melissa Weber at .
  • The student directory has been released. If you submitted directory information but did not receive a directory, please call the front office.
