5. Outcomes – Narrative Report

Aberystwyth

In Aberystwyth we have run four activity groups of 10 weeks each. Two groups ran in parallel on Monday afternoons, in partnership with the National Exercise Referral Scheme, one gentle group for those with mobility issues and the other more active. However, in practice, the groups were much more fluid with participants choosing to do some of each depending on how they felt on the day or what the activity was. One group ran on Thursday afternoons, in partnership with MIND. A fourth group ran on Weds mornings in partnership with Sure Start and the Penparcau Family Centre, for families with small children.

All the groups have attracted sufficient participants (with the Weds family group completely booked out), and all have had a high level of retaining participants and low drop-out rate, despite ill health. Feedback shows that participants wish to continue the activities, and leaders are interested in further training and being involved in future activities.

A skill share day for leaders was held in June, a mental health first aid course in July, and a ‘First Aid at Work in the Woods’ (tailored specifically to our needs) was held in Sept.
