Eligibility:
Any female or male (for the senior division), with amateur status, 18 years or older for the Women’s Division, 25 years or older for the Women’s Mid-Am Division, 50 years or older for the Senior Men’s & Women’s, and 65 years and older for the Super Senior Men’s & Women’s as of August 26, 2016 residing in Bexar, Comal, Kendall, Kerr, Wilson, Atascosa, Medina, Guadalupe, or Bandera counties for a minimum of three months prior to the Championship date. Active duty military residents are exempt from three month residency requirement. The Committee has the right to make exceptions in certain circumstances.
Entry Deadline:
· 6:00 pm, Friday August 19, 2016
· Field is limited to the first 144 paid entries received.
· Any late entries will be admitted on a space available basis only.
· Players who withdraw after the deadline will not receive a refund.
· Players who withdraw before the deadline are subject to a $15.00 service fee.
Format:
· 54 Hole Stroke Play Competition (Senior Men & Super Senior Men only)
· 36 Hole Stroke Play Competition (All women’s divisions)
· The total number of flights per division will be dependent upon the number of entries. The tournament director has the flexibility of determining the number of players per flight depending upon the number of players participating in the Championship
· This is a GSA Player of the Year & Rudy’s I-35 Cup Points event.
Handicap Format for Mid-Am and Senior Women’s Divisions:
· Players must have a verifiable handicap (GHIN or index) to participate in the Net competition. College players that do not have a handicap should play to a 0 hdcp.
· Handicaps will determine the flight you participate in:
o Championship Flight 0-12 Handicaps
o First Flight 13-20 Handicaps
o Second Flight 21-30 Handicaps
· Prizes will be awarded on the following basis:
o 1-4 players per flight = 1 prize: Low Gross (LG)
o 5-9 players per flight = 2 prizes: LG, and Low Net (LN)
o 10-15 players per flight = 4 prizes: 1st LG, LN, and 2nd LG, LN
· A tie for any place other than overall low gross shall be decided by a scorecard playoff based on USGA procedure of matching the scores for the last nine holes, then the last 6, the final 3 and if still tied, the score for the 18th hole. If players are still tied the same process will be used on the front nine holes.
· If there is a tie for overall low gross and sudden death playoff will determine the winner
· This is a GSA Player of the Year Points event.
Yardages:
· Women’s Championship Division—approximately 6000 yards
· Women’s Mid-Am Division—approximately 5600 yards
· Senior Men’s Division—approximately 6500 yards
· Senior Women’s Division – approximately 5300 yards
Rules:
· Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA.
· All players must conform with the USGA Rules of Amateur Status as specified in the USGA Rules of Golf.
· Rules Committee Decisions will be final.
· Caddies and pull carts are permitted.
· In this competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. Devices and distances may be shared with other players.
Carts:
To ensure that carts are available for all contestants, 2 carts are allowed per group. If your group has a walker only 1 cart will be allowed. Please consider, before bringing a caddie or spectator(s).
Awards Ceremony:
· August 28, 2016 immediately following play at Brackenridge Park Golf Course.
Important Information:
· Rounds may be reduced due to weather and unplayable conditions.
· Starting times will be established by the committee and special requests will not be available.
· Appropriate golf attire is required.
