Q: Does the CSPH offer an online program?

A: While some of our core courses are offered in a hybrid format, we do not currently offer any completely online programs.

Q: How are classes typically offered (format, time of day, etc)?

A: Core courses are offered in a hybrid format at least one time a year. Most concentration- specific classes are offered in-person during the day at the Anschutz Medical Campus and Colorado State University campus. Courses offered at the University of Northern Colorado are often offered in an evening and weekend-intensive format. Q: How can I schedule a visit/tour of campus to learn more about the professional programs?

Q: Where do I find more information on Graduate Assistant (GA)/Teaching Assistant (TA) opportunities?

A:

Anschutz Medical Campus – TA positions and Professional Research Assistant (PRA) positions are offered at AMC. Students interested in TA positions must have a B- (2.70) or higher in the course that they intend to teach. PRAs are University of Colorado positions located on the Anschutz Medical Campus. PRA positions may be found at https://www.jobsatcu.com.

MPH/DrPH Application FAQ’s

Q: Does CSPH require a supplemental application or an application for the University in addition to SOPHAS?

A: No, applicants do not need to complete an application to the University or a supplemental application. We only require a SOPHAS application.

Q: I am applying to an MPH joint degree program, CSPH residency program, or select fellowship program. Am I required to complete the SOPHAS application?

A: No, joint degree seeking students, occupational medicine residency, preventive medicine residency and select fellowship applicants are not required to complete the SOPH AS application, but will need to complete a specialty program application. Please see the individual program pages listed below or contact for details on the application process for your specific program. More information regarding the joint degree application process can be found at http://ucdenver.edu/academics/colleges/PublicHealth/Apply/Admissions/Pages/default.aspx.

Q: Do I have to choose a campus when I apply?

A: Yes, as follows:

·  MPH Program –On the SOPHAS application, applicants are allowed to choose a maximum of two designations within the CSPH. Applicants should choose their first and second choice campus/concentration choices within CSPH and rank order them accordingly.

·  Certificate Programs - Applicants to the Certificate in Public Health Sciences program must choose a home campus of Anschutz Medical Campus or University of Northern Colorado at the time of application.

Q: What are the application fees?

A:

·  SOPHAS Application Fee - $120 (MPH & DrPH only, excluding applicants to CSPH joint degree, residency, and select fellowship programs).

·  Certificate Programs - $50 non-refundable application fee. Applicants may send either a check or money order made payable to Colorado School of Public Health.

Q: What are the application deadlines?

A:

·  MPH Program:

o  Priority Deadline: December 15

o  Final Deadline: February 1

·  MPH/DVM: October 3

·  MPH/MD: May 15

·  MPH/MPA: February 1 (check with MPA program regarding their application specific deadlines)

·  MPH/MURP: February 1 (check with MURP program regarding their specific application deadlines)

·  DrPH: February 1

·  Certificate Programs: February 15 (summer start), September 15 (spring start)

·  MS: February 1

·  PhD: February 1

Q: Can I waive the SOPHAS fee for the MPH and DrPH Application?

A: Yes, SOPHAS may allow an applicant to waive the SOPHAS application fee. Additional information regarding waiving the SOPHAS application fee can be found on their FAQ’s at http://sophas.org/Faq.cfm#a.

Q: If I have study abroad credit, do I need to request an original transcript from the study abroad organization?

A: If the study abroad credits AND grades do not show up on a US institution’s transcripts, then yes, applicants will need to request an original transcript from the study abroad organization.

Q: If I have transfer credits that appear on another transcript, do I still need to submit official transcripts from that institution?

A: Yes, transcripts should be submitted from every institution that a student has ever attended, regardless if they have been transferred into another program.

Q: Can I collect the official transcripts and send them to SOPHAS all at once

A: No. In order to be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly from the institution to SOPHAS.

Q: If admitted, when can I start the program?

A:

·  MPH program offers a summer or fall start. Applicants have the option of starting in the summer only if they submitted their SOPHAS application by the priority deadline: December 15. Applicants who submit their application by the final deadline (February 1st) may be considered for a Fall start only.

·  DrPH program offers a fall start date

·  Certificate students start their program in the summer or spring semesters

Q: If admitted to the program, can I take courses on the other CSPH campuses?

A:

·  MPH Students are required to take a minimum of 24 credits from the home campus to which they were originally admitted. Additional credits can be taken from any of the three CSPH campuses.

·  Certificate students are required to take a minimum of 9 credits at their home campus. The remaining credits can be taken at any of the three institutions.

Q: Do I register and pay tuition at the home campus I am admitted to?

A: The administrative center of the Colorado School of Public Health is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus. Regardless of a student’s home campus, all registration, financial aid, and tuition payment will take place through the Anschutz Medical Campus offices.

Q: Do the CSPH professional programs defer admission?

A: The professional programs do not defer admission. If admitted, a student must take at least one class during their initial term of admission in order to fully matriculate into the program.

Q: Does CSPH offer conditional acceptance?

A: No, applicants must meet the minimum requirements at the time of the application. Applicants are required to submit all materials by the application deadline.

Q: Do materials need to be received or postmarked by the application deadline?

A: All materials (including test results, international evaluations, etc) need to be received by the appropriate offices by the posted application deadline.

Q: GRE – what code should I send my official score to?

A: Applicants should submit their GRE to the following: CSPH School of Public Health GRE Code: 7844.

Q: Do you accept other exams in place of the GRE or waive the GRE requirement?

A: We accept the following alternatives to the GRE: DAT, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT or PCAT. The GRE is waived for applicants who have completed a graduate level degree from a US accredited institution or who have successfully completed a CSPH certificate program with a 3.00 or higher.

Q: What is the minimum GRE/GPA you accept?

A: CSPH does not require a minimum GPA or GRE score for applicants, though the most competitive applicants typically have GRE scores at the 50th percentile or above for each section, along with cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or above.

Q: Do I send DAT, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT or PCAT test scores to SOPHAS?

A: No, send your test scores to the following address.

Q: Are there additional requirements for international applicants?

A: International applicants whose native language is not English or who have not earned a degree in the United States must submit TOEFL scores earned within two years preceding the desired term of entry. Minimum score required: 550-paper; 213-computer; 80-Internet.

Transcripts from non-US institutions need to beverified by the World Education Services (WES) or Education Credential Evaluators (ECE) and submitted directly to SOPHAS. A course-by- course transcript evaluation is required. Evaluations, as well as all test scores, must be received by SOPHAS by the program-specific application deadline.

Financial Statement: Admitted international applicants must submit official proof of funding for at least one year of tuition, fees, and living expenses and an official request for I-20 form to CSPH.
