Grading: is based on the following criteria - (Assignments are graded on a 30 point rubric):

1. Understanding the application of visual elements (design) 10 points

2. Execution of the drawing, painting, and handling of materials (craft) 10 points

3. Application of the requirements of each assignment and deadline (theme) 10 points

I do not give extra credit but encourage students to go back and enhance the work they have handed in for additional points. They cannot make up late work points.

Homework: I do not give specific homework assignments, but if students are falling behind and will not meet the due date, homework is necessary. They can always stay after school to catch up as well as bring their work home.

Late work: Students are notified of due dates on SIS as well as CANVAS on the Wasatch School District website. Failure to meet due dates results in a 20% loss of grade. I am firm on due dates but will make exceptions for individuals if notified beforehand or parent communication.

Attendance: Attendance is vital for this class. New concepts are presented each class period and students who do not attend or are often late can quickly fall behind.

The Wasatch High School attendance policy will be administered and enforced in this class. Key points of this policy include the following items:

  • Students with more than five absences/tardies per term will receive a UA (Unsatisfactory Attendance) citizenship grade credit for that term.
  • Citizenship Credit can be earned by making up each absence or tardy beyond five through attendance school.

All students must earn 28 terms of citizenship credits in order to graduate from Wasatch High School

Citizenship Grading Scale

H = Honor (Exemplarily Citizenship) N = Needs Improvement

S = Satisfactory Citizenship U = Unsatisfactory (No credit earned)

UA = Unsatisfactory Attendance (No Credit Earned)

Participation Points: I often give participation points at the beginning of the class. (warm-ups, bell ringers). 5 points are given for assignments and students must be present and arrive on time to receive full points.

No cell phones allowed in class.

Exception is approval from teacher for music use only.

(Students should pay at the office, inform them it is for Ms. Sprackland's painting class and bring receipt back to Ms. Sprackland)

Note: This has NOT been paid for during registration.

Students must also have a 9 x 12" sketchbook and pencil

Failure to have materials could result in a lower grade on assignments

I have read and reviewed this disclosure statement. I understand the grading and classroom procedures. Students receive 10 points when this is signed and turned in.
