How to re-enrol someone who’s enrolment is due to expire

One of your patient’s has not visited in nearly 3 years and their enrolment is due to expire. They complete an enrolment form or inform you that they wish to continue being enrolled with the practice.

  1. Enter the date that they have confirmed their enrolment in the date confirmed on the enrolment-funding tab.
  1. If the patient needs synchronising you may get this prompt, synchronise the patient data by updating the NHI or updating Medtech. You may already have done this when updating the new information on their new enrolment form.
  1. You will get a prompt to say the enrolment details (ie the date confirmed) has been updated and you need to update NES. Choose update enrolment
  1. Click Re-Enrol patient.
  1. This will send todays date as the re-enrolment date to NES and the expiry date will be updated to 3 years from today.

There are lots of places in the navigation of these screens where a user could exit and end up not sending the re-enrol date to NES. The re-enrolment date is not received by NES and the expiry date will remain the same. Currently NES will end all expired enrolments once a quarter after the quarterly CBF PHO register load. When all practices are on NES ending expired enrolments will happen on a nightly basis so you will get notifications evenly across the quarter.

What if I don’t re-enrol the patient on NES and it ends the enrolment?

If your patient has recently re-enrolled but you do not provide a re-enrolment date to NES so NES has ended the enrolment you will receive a notification that the enrolment has been ended.

To enrol this patient again in NES you will have to

  1. change the enrolment funding tab to enrolment confirmed,
  2. enter the re-enrolment date into the date confirmed and
  3. follow the prompts. This time you will need to enrol the patient because you cannot re-enrola patient in NES after their enrolment has been ended, you need to enrol.
