Tuesday Dec 7 - Meet Anne Goldberg for tours of Douglas and ranches to the east
I contacted Wendy and she's fine with us coming out to the ranch on Dec. 7.
She asks to be kept posted about when we will arrive. I think going in the
morning is probably best, because they are always up before dawn. From
Douglas, it takes about 30-40 minutes to get there. It's a 17-mile dirt road
out there. There is also a park right by their ranch, the Slaughter Ranch,
which could be nice for a picnic spot. I don't know what your food situation
is. We could also wait to get back to town for lunch. What time should I
tell Wendy to expect us?
Just for your reference, they are the Glenns, Wendy and Warner. He
wrote "Eyes of Fire" about seeing the jaguar. The Malpai Borderland Group is
featured in Smithsonian magazine, I'll look up the issue. The headquarters
for the group is in their home. He guides mountain lion hunting trips in the
winter in addition to being a cattle rancher. Her maiden name is Paul, and a
small town outside of Douglas, Paul Spur, is named for them.
