Human Sexuality Parent Packet

Student Name ______Period ____

Introduction:

Human Sexuality is a part of the Health Education curriculum. We are starting this unit in Health Education. I believe that human sexuality should be taught in school, as well as at home. It is important that students not only learn the science of human sexuality, but also learn their family’s values and morals as they pertain to this subject. This will help them develop and structure their personal values and morals, which become the bases of their decisions.

In this packet, the assignments are designed to promote communication between parent and child. They include assignments on physical changes that take place during adolescence, anatomy of the male and female reproductive system, and relationships.

This packet will be due ______. Please complete each assignment with your student. Each assignment will need to be signed by a parent or legal guardian to receive credit.

All of the lessons for the human sexuality unit are posted on my web page if you need additional resources

If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email me.

Thank you for your support.

Assignment #1 Heredity

Name ______Period ______

Heredity is the passing of traits from parents to their children. With your parent, mark the following characteristics that you have right now. Then mark where you think that characteristic came from. You might get your traits from multiple sources – so it is okay to circle more than one person.

If you do not know your birth parent(s) and/or grandparent(s) – compare yourself to the parent(s) / grandparent(s) you have now. Even though those traits did not come from them, it is interesting to see how many traits you might have in common.
