2014 Show Wrap Up

The 9TH Lehigh Valley Hunting and Fishing Extravaganza

Saturday brought Light rain for the show, But still good crowdsthe kids fishing area was hopping and as some of the tagged fish were caught Prizes, from Limestone Springs Trout preserve & Cabela's Were awarded , kids that caught Lunkers and opted to release them, so other kids could enjoy catching them, were rewarded with a brand new fishing rod and reel sets complements of Cabela’s Hamburg.

All the competitions for kids and adults came along really well. Every kid you looked at either had a scout challenge card or a junior Mr. Miss LV outdoorsman card. You also saw lots of adults carrying around the White colored PA Outdoors Skills Competition Cards. Many thanks go out to all our clubs that ran the stations.

The Weaknecht Bowfair 50 target 3D archery course had plenty of shooters all week end as did the archery novelty shoots.

Was huge this year it is growing all the time and Venders were very happy several of them asked to set up Sunday as well. Saturday night we always have a feast for all the venders and clubs and volunteers, It was a great time with are Pig Roaster, Earl "Sonny" Wieder Of Wieder Excavating (He Digs the Lehigh Valley) Sonny's a pig roaster from way back , and we had great food & great fellowship that evening

Sunday was a very nice day for the show as the gates opened Dog handlers showed up bringing there dogs for the Lehigh Valley Top Dog Challenge. With the Top Dog Competition under way, they had a full Competition and had to turn dogs & handlers away, Mark Wolfskill and Karen Shannon of Pheasant Valley Farms had there hands full and did a great job making it all happen. With kids fishing, children and adults competing, dogs running on birds, People shooting Shotguns & Bows, Tomahawks being thrown, a Saw mill running constantly, Chain Saw carvings underway and a huge 3D Target Auction held by Zettlemoyer Auctions,

Sunday was a great day!!!

The Show and the Sportsmen of the State are very lucky to have So many great people willing to share their time and passion for the outdoors to promote our Heritage.

Ear to Ear Smiles on all the faces of the Children that attended is mighty good payment for all there hard work.

But we still owe them all our gratitude and thanks. This show would not be possible, nor would it be and EXTRAVAGANZA with out them.

The 2014 LVHFE Top Dog Competition was a big success!

Many folks gathered to watch through-out the morning as the 20 dogs ran in the competition. The dogs were given a maximum of 8 minutes to find 2 separate birds in cages. There were 3 dogs that did not find either bird, 6 dogs that found 1 bird and 11 dogs that found both birds.

The TOP DOG was Bella, a German Shorthaired Pointer, owned by Tim Gardner of Fleetwood. Bella found both birds in 1 minute 7 seconds.

The second place winner was Addie, a Labrador Retriever, owned by Frank Kintzel of Pine Grove. Addie found both birds in 1 minute 43 seconds.

The third place winner was Brixton, a Brittany, owned byJoan Groman of Walnutport. Brixton found both birds in 2 minutes and 42 seconds.

Teach youngsters that are accompanied by a parent to do just that. He did a great job, He taught Safety and Respect of firearms First, and then

Both afternoons their reenactment battles took place in the SE corner of the fairgrounds property at 3:30PM .

Next years show

We are already planning the 10TH Extravaganza and have the Kempton fair grounds secured for next years show to be held August 22nd 23rd of 2015. We have lots of room to expand our show and had lots of good ideas & feedback given to us during the show. Every vender I spoke to has full intentions of returning next year. We fully intend to capitalize on all of this and bring next years show back bigger and better than ever!

JUST A NOTE OF HOPE AND A WISH LIST FOR THE FUTURE!!

Without a doubt our show has been going well, even in these very tuff economic times, We have grown very strong roots among the sporting community.

We really put our hearts into this Event and God willing we will be able to keep it going for future Generations.

BOBS WISH LIST

Most people don’t realize that our show really does support our local clubs and organizations. They can come out and promote there organization FREE of Charge.

We have unlimited outdoor space that I would love nothing more than to fill up. Here is my short list!!

I would like to have more committed people get involved, and let them coordinate some different parts of the show. I would love to see a whole section of are show dedicated to our furry friends, Animal shelters, dog rescues, Training clubs, 4H clubs, How about the cutest puppy contest. Heck we even have room for horses. And supply them with a demo show area.

I for one love animals and most sportsmen do.

I would like to see a one day sportsman’s carnival run on a Friday or Sunday of the show. It could be run as a fundraise for clubs, Could have pin the tail on the deer, darts, soda ring toss, Gold fish toss, Kids fishing curtain, coin Toss, Spin wheels. Chinese Auction, Cake or Candy Walk, Sportsman’s Bingo and any other fun games of chance.

More Items

It would be nice to see the PA Game Commission at our show it would be a great place to run a Hunters safety class, Bow hunters Safety class, trapping with snares class. Ect.

More and larger Encampments, Primitive and Military, A NWTF Women in the Outdoors Event, Outdoor Photo Contest, Most Decked out Hunting Truck and ATV Show.

Cowboy action shooting, Deer Chili Cook Off, Nicest Arrow cresting competition, And more this is my short list

***All these Items would be great fun, But we need More People to join are team and Organize these events. ***
