DECA CONSTITUTION 2017 – 2018
PURPOSE
· DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
ATTENDANCE
ü Members will be required to attend AT LEAST HALF of the meetings during the school year,
ü Members will be required to participate in AT LEAST ONE of the community service projects offered.
ü Members will be required to participate in ALL DECA fundraisers during the year which includes the __POPCORN_____ fundraiser.
ü Failure to comply with the rules of attendance will result in a member in bad standing and/or expulsion from the organization.
ü Meetings are the 1st Friday morning of every month in room 525 @ 6:50am
GRADES
ü Anyone who receives below a 70 on a class in any given grading will be put on probation.
ü If the grade does not improve by the following grading period the student is subject to not being able to compete and/or expulsion from the club.
DISCIPLINE
ü DECA club members will be given three absences from mandatory DECA events before being removed from club. Sponsors have the power to remove any member from the club at any time.
DUES INFO
ü Membership Dues: Includes T-Shirt, Mini-Competition, District, State and National Competition fees, and Social Events (subject to change). If you No SHOW to an event that KCHS DECA has paid for, you will be responsible for re-paying that fee.

COMPETITION
ü All members are eligible to compete if they are in good standing. To be in good standing members must meet the following requirements.
o Pay the membership dues, maintain above a 70 average, participate in competition tutorials, pay competition fees, and turn in all permission slips by the designated date.
ü Study material is located on Schoology and if necessary, a printed copy can be provided.

ü Joining DECA is a great way to meet more people, to enhance your academic skills, and travel around the United States!!!
Student Contact by Text Message
Advancements in and the affordability of technology (cell phones, email, etc.) have created another avenue for teacher/student contact to take place. Klein ISD requires that the parent/guardian be contacted (Cc’d) by any employee directly contacting a student using text messaging as the means of contact, except in the case of a health or safety emergency (change in practice times does not constitute a health or safety emergency).
Klein ISD is requesting that you approve or deny the use of this method for contacting you and your child.
