Welcome Students and Parents!

What you will need for class:

6th GRADE SCIENCE - We will be following the Ohio's New Learning Standards to guide our curriculum and instruction. In 6th grade, we will be covering the following: Life Science (Cellular to Multicellular), Physical Science (Matter and Motion), and Earth and Space Science (Rocks, Minerals and Soil). These can be found in further details at the Ohio Department of Education website.
Grading: Points will be earned through a variety of class activities and occasional homework assignments. These include, but not limited to: class participation, science journal, quizzes, homework, labs, and tests.
Homework/Make-Up Work: All homework not completed on time will be counted as a zero. Homework will NOT be given every night, however, students are highly encouraged to review the day's lesson. If a student is absent for several days, assignments will be available on ProgressBook, and the students will be responsible for getting their work that they miss when they return. The work should be completed as soon as possilbe.
Grading Scale: See Student Handbook, Page 15, Item 11.
Quarterly Homework/Extra Credit: In order to encourage research and communication, each nine weeks, the students will complete at least FOUR of the choices of study listed below; this will be graded as a homework grade (worth 20 points). They have 8 weeks to complete and turn in their notecards. IF they complete all six, an additional 10 bonus points will be given.
