It's getting hot and the sweat is rolling with little effort. This time of the year is best for stretching and getting fit. But, students should take precautions to avoid heat-related complications. Ample fluids as well as avoiding food intake within ninety minutes prior to class will make training more endurable. If lightheaded or dizzy, please do not hesitate to inform your instructor. Let's all have a safe and productive summer.

We would like to remind students that have been training for at least three months, that Annual Membership fees along with a recent photograph as well as an up to date membership form are past due since May 1st. Please submit these as soon as possible.

Additionally, school T-shirts are now available. The initial run will include white T-shirts as well as tank tops. We are asking students to advance order, so please inform us as to the size(s) desired. Samples are available in the office.

This issue contains results from the Interschool Tournament, which was held on March 21, 1998. Interschool Tournaments are held in Marion only once per year and provide an opportunity for students to gain tournament experience locally and within the school setting. This provides students with exposure that can ease the transition to larger regional or state tournaments. We trust that a good time was had by all and congratulate all participants.

The most recent promotion test has shown how hard many students are training and we commend them for their efforts.

Train hard and the rewards will be manifold!

Alan J. Weston, Ph. D.
