C.P. PSI PhysicsCourse Expectations

Course Expectations:

  1. Students will be expected to attend class; if absent for any reason it is the student’s responsibility to contact the teacher as soon as possible to acquire the notes and assignments.
  1. Students will be expected to maintain a satisfactory level of preparedness and bring all necessary supplies to class daily.

-3 Ring Binder (Very Important)

-Lines Paper for binder ( a few sheets)

-Any handouts provided by the teacher

-Homework

-Pen or pencil

-Calculator, non-graphing

  1. Students will be seated right away, write posted homework in their agenda, and have binder / calculator / homework out ready to start class.
  1. Students will be expected to complete all assignments on time.
  1. Students will be cooperative in class, contribute to the learning environment and growth of the class to the best of their ability. There are daily group exercises.
  1. Students will be expected to be prepared for all laboratory experiments, keep a clean lab bench work area, and to observe all safety rules at all times.

Evaluation Procedures:

The four standard marking period grades will be determined by a weighted grading system as noted below. The following are approximations: a test is valued at 100 points each, a quiz at 25 points each, a lab report is valued at 30 points each, and graded homework is valued at 10 points each.

All tests and quizzes will be graded, returned in class, reviewed in class. Students are encouraged to take notes on the challenges they encountered in the test during the in class review.

The Science Department Weighting Profile for a C.P. class –

Test – 40%

Quiz – 20 %

Labs and Activities – 35%

Homework – 5 %

The fifth marking period, comprised of the final exam grade, will be determined by the standard district weighting policy.

The value of each marking period and the final exam are as per school policy and subject to change as the administration so determines.
