Minutes of Business Meeting held on 1st July 2013 in The Bull

Long Service Awards: The President congratulated Walter on 15 years of service to the Club, and was delighted to make him the award of the chevron to add to his Lions badge.
Induction: Russell de Ville was inducted into the club as a new member, sponsored by Tony Higgs. Congratulations to Russell and a warm welcome to the club or, as it is known to members, the Madhouse. The Turvey Chapter goes from strength to strength.
Minutes of last meeting & matters arising- The minutes were agreed and AP’s would be picked up during the meeting.
Treasurers Report:
· Charity Account stands at £11,806.59.
· Receipts this month included NP advanced stallholder fees £240.00, Dickens advance Stallholder fees £390.00. Motorama Sponsorships £525.00, Motorama raffle & collections £672.99.

End of Lionistic Year:
Accounts– Trevor reported that initial estimates show that the Club have raised funds to the tune of £18K in 2012/2013, which breaks all records, an achievement of which we can all be proud, especially in these recessionary times. He added that donations are approx £5.2K Local, £3.0K to national and £1.3K to international causes. He asked for 2 people to audit the accounts and offered the opportunity to new members. Russell agreed to be one of the auditors.
Handover: The following appointments were confirmed for 2013/2015:

It was hoped that members of the ‘shadow cabinet’ would begin the process of learning new roles so that new appointments could take place in the 2015/2017.
Lions HQ returns: Bob reported that a certificate of completion had been obtained.
Service Committee
Tony reported that over the last 2 years the Service Committee have considered 79 applications for support.
· MK Hospital. £400 was paid to Bletchley Lions club as our agreed contribution to this project. Discharged.
· Foodbank – We made a donation of £500 last August. Deferral of presentation to later in the year. Ongoing
· Women’s Refuge – Karen has a meeting set up and will report back on progress at our next meeting. AP KTM ongoing.
· Alice Church request to sponsor bike ride across Cuba. – Alice & Gill to attend the September meeting to discuss proposals and the charities she wants to support. AP TH ongoing.
· Support to Disabled Paralympian - It was agreed not to proceed with this. Discharged.
· Middle School Snack Bar. This project will go ahead but with the New Year 5 and 6 Groups in the September term. AP BB ongoing
· OTC hanging baskets – Done. Discharged.
· Age UK – A donation of £200.00 has been made. Discharged
· Olney Newton Link Corporate membership – It was agreed not to proceed. Discharged.
· South Central Ambulance –The purchase of a defibrillator is being investigated AP TH
· Water Aid – A donation of £200 was made. Discharged.
· Rapid Response Service – There was some uncertainty about supporting this because of an absence of a local focus. Discharged
· Soldiers Support – It was agreed to meet with the BL representative again to see if we could identify a specific way of helping. AP TH
· Terry Sapwell (Deceased) – It was agreed to make a donation of £50 to Cancer Research. Discharged.
· Parental Support Case - It was decided not to support this but that we should communicate this decision to the person who originally approached us. AP TH.
· Plan UK – Not supported. Discharged.
· MK Special Dons – It was agreed to support them with £50 for a raffle prize.
· Motorama Charities - It was agreed to donate £500.00 to Hearing Dogs for deaf people and £500.00 to MacMillan Cancer Support as the two agreed recipient charities for this years Motorama.
· Thanks were due to Bert Lawrence for his help with the Hanging Baskets, and Tom Revitt for his help at TOGFEST.
Fund Raising
· Motorama – A very successful year which saw record numbers attending and a record number of exhibitors. Thanks were due in a big way to all members who were able to help out and to Friends of Lions to whom a letter of thanks had already been e mailed. We made a profit on the event of £1000.00 after receiving a record amount of money in the collecting buckets. Bob to propose a date for a Motorama review meeting. The date for next years Motorama will be 8th June. AP BB
· Calendars – Martin reported that Dan Evans a local photographer, has offered to make his own photos available and to support us in the production of a calendar. Also offers of photos have been made by Alan Richardson. There was some discussion and a number of suggestions were made. Martin asked for comments to be e –mailed to him at so that he could take this forward. AP ALL
· Dickens – On Track. Only 3 places left. John is now working on the output from the Dickens review meeting.
· NP Carnival July 6th. – A rota has been issued and Geoff confirmed places at the meeting. He will be sorting out issues like where we gather, where we park and the roles we need to fulfil, ready for Saturday. AP GOB ongoing.
· NP Craft Fayres - Geoff has banked a further £240.00 of advance stallholder fees. Dates are: 20 July (Craft Fayre), 12 October (Food Fayre), 14 December (Xmas Fayre). At present forecast income is £1200 with no expenditure! AP GOB ongoing.
· Weather Lottery –This should now be closed. AP discharged.
· Alban Hill Nurseries – John is following up the ideas for a Wishing Well and a Falconry Display. AP JF
· Can Shake – We are awaiting information from Stony Stratford Club.
· Recycling – Another £20.00 received this month.
Social – see the social calendar on the web site for fuller details.
· Jazz Night tomorrow night at the Carlton House Club. Derek pointed out that we should be there by 7.00pm to order food. John please note!
· Psychic Night – Tina to organise. AP TB
· Sponsors Evening – We will consider an event this year to reward our sponsors. AP JF/BB
· Xmas Meal – Derek asked members to consider where they would like to go. AP ALL
· Business meetings – Monday 5th August and Monday 2nd September both meetings to be held in Two Brewers.
Membership –
· Russell agreed to help audit the accounts.
· The club were pleased that Tom was well enough to be around for next Saturday at the Carnival.
· Tony would contact Dave Simmons about re scheduling his 10 year long service award. The club wished Dave a speedy recovery from his medical treatment.
· Geoff pointed out that we do not have any information packs to give out to people who might want to learn more about us and possibly join us. Trevor agreed to pull something together. AP TA
Correspondence
· As distributed.

· Geoff raised the possibility of offering a different sort of xmas present, possibly some locally produced jams/chutneys. There was some discussion about this and Geoff will explore what can be done with a £5 budget per parcel and report back to the next meeting. AP GOB
· Questions for future discussion:
o Should we be present at Cherry Fayre, and if so in what way?
o Should we make a wreath available for Armistice Day?
o Should we ‘Sponsor a roundabout?
