Fees

•Choir fees for 2017-2018 are $75.

•Fee covers choir expenses which include but are not limited to:

•Sheet music (this is our curriculum and the largest part of our budget)

•Concert/Performance expenses such as rental of concert venue, accompanist

•Awards

•Other classroom expenses

•Uniform if needed.

Choir Performances

•Everyone performs!

•Two required concerts: One onDecember 12th(tentative) and one onMay15th. Both concerts are at 6:30 p.m. Locations will be announced closer to concert time.

•Honor Choir will have extra performances

HONOR CHOIR

  • Auditions for Honor choir are in late September/early October.

(There are no extra fees for Honor choir. The only separate expense will be the Spring Trip which is approximately $400 or less.)

  • Honor choir will travel to a national competition in the Spring. (optional for Honor Choir members)
  • Honor choir meets for rehearsal before school two days a week at 7:40 a.m. (and occasionally extra rehearsals as needed).
  • Honor choir students must maintain acceptable grades/ conduct in all classes, AND attend all rehearsals to remain in Honor Choir.

Grading Procedure

Choir students are graded on their participation and effort. The grading rubrics for daily participation grades, as well as the rubric for sight-singing tests and concerts will be posted to the choir website.

Parent communication: Sign up for remind texts from Mrs. Hagood by texting @epmsch to 81010.

Announcements, reminders, and schedules will also be posted on your student’s Edmodo classroom page and the choir website. E-mail is the best way to contact Mrs. Hagood- . Please note that there is no “y” in Hagood 

Concert attire:

We will place a bulk order in the fall for those who have paid in full.

Ladies: Uniform pictured below. With uniform you must wear solid black, closed toe, closed heel shoes. IF you wear a heel it must be low enough that you can stand comfortably. No sandals, open toe, or sling-back shoes. Earrings must be less than an inch in diameter, no necklaces, one bracelet or watch on one arm. Any hair accessories must be solid black with no “bling”.

Gentlemen: The uniform includes a white dress shirt, black flat front dress pants, black bow tie. Undershirt must be white with nothing printed on it. You will wear your own black shoes, and long black socks. No jewelry.

Discipline

•Discipline in choir is the same as Elmore Park’s school wide Discipline plan.

•Students are expected to participate in choral rehearsal without disrupting their peers.

•Students are expected to show respect for themselves, their teacher, their peers, and the rehearsal process with their actions.

  • August 22- 6:30 pm NEW TO CHOIR parent meeting. Open to all choir parents.
  • October 28- All Southwest Honor Choir Auditions- (Optional 7th & 8th grade)
  • November 10 - Veterans' Day program
  • November 10-12 All Southwest TN Honor Choir clinics and Concert
  • December 12–EPMS Holiday Choir Concert (required)
  • February 1- Black History Month Program
  • February 23-Band and Choirsponsored Winterfest Dance (optional- a fundraiser for music)
  • February 22 -Solo & Ensemble- University of Memphis School of Music (Optional all grades)
  • February/March?- Bartlett City Schools 8th Grade Honor Choir
  • April? Honor Choir recruiting performance for Elementary schools
  • April 18-20- Jr. High Choral Festival (Advanced choirs)
  • May 15-EPMS Spring Choir Concert (required)
  • April -Music Department (Honor Choir & Band)Trip - dates/locationto be determined
  • May- Fine Arts Banquet (optional)
