Thank you for considering the YMCA Black and Latino Achievers program as a place to donate your time and talents. Volunteers are vital to the YMCA. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to meet the needs of the youth, families, and adults who live in the Greater Cincinnati area.

We know that your time and talent are precious, and we want every minute you spend with us to be worthwhile. That’s why we’re asking you to take a few minutes to fill out this application. It will help us begin to make the right match between your skills and interests and the opportunities available.

You will find questions on this form about your background, places of employment, and so on. Unfortunately, there are a few people who apply for volunteer opportunities at the YMCA for the wrong reasons, so even though we may know a volunteer well, we reserve the right to conduct background and reference checks on all volunteers. It’s just one of the many ways we help protect children and other vulnerable people served by the YMCA.

Thanks for your cooperation in this effort and your interest in the YMCA Black and Latino Achievers program. If you have any questions about this or any part of our application process, please contact any one of our team members below.

Sincerely,

Karyl Cunningham

Interests

Our program takes place the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of every month (September-May) from 10 am to 2 pm at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.

Please check which particular volunteer opportunities interest you.

College Readiness - (2 Saturdays per month)

The B&LA College Readiness Program is committed to providing important access and education to our students and their families. The College Readiness Program workshops help high school students achieve their goals and dreams. Volunteers mentor and encourage our students to successfully enroll at competitive higher education institutions. Please select a grade group which you would be interested in working with.

Career Exploration & Career Clusters (1 Saturday a month)

Led by Adult Achievers, career clusters is the primary vehicle utilized to introduce teens to the vast array of career fields in which they may explore. Adult Achievers or volunteers who are professionals in these various fields provide stimulating workshops and sessions that open the eyes of teens to the talents that are right on the surface, or sometimes hidden and ready to burst from within. Please select the professional field where you would like to participate.

Are there any particular skills, talents, or interest you’d like to share?

To what capacity can you speak/understand Spanish?

What other organizations have you volunteered for, if any?

Are you a member of the YMCA?
