MINUTES

  1. Call to Order

Mayor Collum called the meeting to order at 7:01 PM.

  1. Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation

The Mayorled the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance and Rev. Jerry Boss gave the Invocation.

  1. Roll Call

Present and forming a quorum were Mayor Collum and Aldermen Mary Boss, Pamela Romer, and Larry Villarreal. Sondra Leigh and Robert Perez were absent. Also present was City Secretary Idalia Vega and Police Chief John Chambers.

  1. Citizen Comments

Jeri Smith- Passed papers to all Council Members.

Carol Skarp- Mrs. Skarp commented that during a call for EMS, they asked her for color of house and vehicles surrounding the home. She commented that it would benefit the town for residents to have their addresses posted outside of their homes.

  1. Discuss and Consider Approval of the January 2011 Regular Meeting Minutes.

Motion was made by Pam Romer to approve January 2011 Regular Meeting Minutes, seconded by Mary Boss. Larry Villarreal abstained due to absence. All Approved. Motion Carried.

  1. Discuss and Consider Approval of the January 2011 Financial Statements

Motion was made by Pamela Romer to approve the January 2011 Financial Statements, seconded by Mary Boss. Larry Villarreal abstained due to absence. All Approved. Motion Carried.

  1. Police Department January 2011 Report

Police Chief John Chambers presented his January, 2011 report. Chief Chambers explained Animal Control Procedures would be working differently. Animal Control is unable to come to the Town on a daily basis. Once the Police Department receives confirmation of the procedure, the information would be shared with the public. Chief Chambers reminded the public that there is an officer on call 24 hours a day, who can be reached at (956) 233-8559 or 911 for Emergencies.

  1. Public Works Report January 2011 Report

Mayor Collum presented the Public Works Report for January 2011.

  1. Discuss and Consider Approval of Amending Section 1 (d) of Ordinance 85 establishing a Valid Time Period for Building Permits.

Motion was made by Pamela Romer to Amend Section 1 (d) of Ordinance 85 establishing a Valid Time Period of 1 Year (12 months) from date of issuance, seconded by Mary Boss.

  1. Announcements- Mayor Barbara Collum announced Town-Wide Patio Sale set for January 29th, 2011.
  2. Adjournment- Motion was made by Pamela Romer to adjourn meeting, seconded by Larry Villarreal. All Approved. Motion carried.
