Meeting days:

Officially the meetings will begin on Monday morning, October 11th and end on Thursday evening, October 14th. The meetings of the Joint Working Groups 1 and 5 are, however, scheduled for a day earlier, Sunday, October 10th.

Accommodation

A block pre-reservation of a sufficient number of single/double B&B rooms has been made with the HOTEL Kokra**** (www.brdo.com), i.e. the venue of the Meetings.

All rooms are newly furnished and equipped with a direct dial phone, EURO-ISDN connection for internet and fax, TV, mini bar and bathroom.

Should you choose to stay at a hotel of your own choice, please state so on the Registration Form.

Food

Lunches will be organised and covered by the host of the Meetings, you do not need to worry about that.

Delegates can take dinner at the hotel restaurant for the price of 7 EUR (provided this is notified at the reception desk at least half a day in advance). The hotel restaurant also serves normal a-la-carte meals for approx. 20 EUR.

To have dinner in one of the country-inns in the neighbouring villages is also an option. The hotel staff will gladly help you with the choice and direction.

Social Event

On Tuesday evening, October 12, all delegates and their accompanying persons are kindly invited by the host to a get-together party with dinner to a countryside restaurant, located some 30 km from Brdo.

FREE PROGRAMME

On the remaining two evenings, delegates and their accompanying persons are invited to go on the following two evening trips, organized and covered by the host.

Monday, October 11, 2004

A bus trip to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia (www.ljubljana-tourism.si). After a short, guided tour of the old part of Ljubljana, you will be left free to explore the streets and many pubs of Ljubljana on your own.

A visit to SIQ testing laboratories in Ljubljana, with brief presentation of the following areas: metrology, safety testing of electrical products, testing of gaming devices, testing of explosion protection. A visit to the laboratory for testing of flameproof enclosures, located some 60 km from Ljubljana, will not be possible due to the renovation works being performed on the building. After a visit to SIQ testing laboratories, you will be left free to explore the streets and many pubs of Ljubljana on your own.

Depending on the interest expressed by the participants either one or the other alternative will be organised.

Arrival: 11.00 p.m.

Wednesday, October 13, 2004:

A bus transfer to Lake Bled (www.bled.si) where you will be left to spend the time to your own wishes. You may go for a nice walk around the lake, take a boat to the island, visit a castle or taste the delicious cream cakes.

Departure: 7.00 p.m.

Arrival: 11.00 p.m.

Accompanying persons’ programme:

In addition to the above-mentioned social event and the two evening trips, accompanying persons are invited to a one-day trip to Lake Bohinj (www.bohinj.si) on Tuesday,
October 12, 2004. In case of bad weather forecast for that day, a one-day trip will be organized to the Postojna Cave (www.postojnska-jama.si).

Tips on how to spend a day at Brdo

Arrival

By air

The main Slovenian airport, Aerodrome Ljubljana, Brnik, is located 30 km from Ljubljana and only few km from Brdo pri Kranju, i.e. the venue of the Meetings.

Delegates are advised to take taxi from the airport to Hotel Kokra (the fare for the ride should not be more than 18 EUR). The taxi rank is right in front of the terminal. Taxis are available according to the actual arrivals of flights, so finding one should not be a problem.

By train, bus or car

Delegates from the nearby European countries can also access Slovenia by car, train or bus. However, as Brdo pri Kranju is so close to the Slovenian main airport, we recommend taking plane.

climate

There is a variety of climates in Slovenia – Mediterranean at the coast, Alpine in the Alps and Karavanke mountains, Pannonian to the northeast of the country.
Average temperatures in October are arround 12 deg C.

VISAS

Delegates are advised to check with their agency about regulations for visas. If in any doubt, information can be obtained from your nearest local Slovenian Embassy or Consulate.

CURRENCY

It is called the Slovenian Tolar (SIT).

Currency exchange rates

All major credit cards are accepted in Slovenia in places, displaying their logo at the entrance.
