PART 3 SUMMARY OF WORK
3.1 The contractor shall provide all materials, labor, equipment, transportation, insurance, permits and other services necessary to design, fabricate and install a hurricane wind abatement and impact protection system in accordance with 2004 Florida Building Code.
3.2 All dimensions must be field verified by the contractor, prior to manufacturing.
3.3 Contractor to provide site specific engineering based on the size and configuration of the screens for this project, including the attachment methods required by the construction of the existing building.
3.4 To be considered for award, the contractor must be able to demonstrate that is has provided similar services as a prime contractor for projects similar in size and scope within the last five years (references must be provided).
3.5 Contractor to provide current FBC Product Approval and NOA from Miami-Dade County Product Control Division.
PART 4 FABRIC CHARACTERISTICS
4.1 Screen produced from a polypropylene, woven monofilament, geo-textile fabric with the following minimum values:

4.2 Design loads must meet the following standards:

4.3 Hurricane protection screens must be tested to the following standards:
- TAS201 (Static Air Pressure Test)
- TAS202 (Impact Test-Large Missile)
- TAS203 (Fatigue Loading Test) Design Pressures +/- 60 psf (153 mph)
- Static Air Pressure Test to 90.0 psf (188 mph)
PART 5 HURRICANE PROTECTION SCREEN SPECIFICATIONS
GENERAL:
5.1 Fabric Screens shall be constructed in accordance with the descriptions in the Engineers Evaluation Report included in the Approvals.
5.2Permit Holder shall verify the adequacy of the existing structure to withstand new superimposed loads.
5.3Screens can be mounted with opposing primary anchored perimeters in vertical, horizontal or any alignment appropriate to the structure being protected.
5.4A flexible wind abatement and impact system that may be used for new or existing construction.
Direct Mount Grommet Screen (Series 100):
5.5 This product may not be used as a shutter in HVHZ, as separation from glazing is required.
5.6For further specifications refer to Approved Evaluation Report and Installation Instructions as referenced in FBC Product approval FL8472 and Texas Department of Insurance #SHU-152.
Strap and Buckle System (Series 500):
5.7Approved by MiamiDadeCounty for use in HVHZ with proper separation from glazing.Screens unable to return should extend past the opening being protected by a minimum of 2’ feet beyond the opening to be protected.
5.8For further specifications refer to Approved Evaluation Report and Installation Instructions as referenced in FBC Product approval FL8982 Non HVHZ, Texas Department of Insurance Approval SHU-98, or Miami-Dade County, FL Certified NOA. 09-0427.02 HVHZ.
Rolling Screen System (Series 700):
5.9Mechanically operated rolling screen for vertical mount with span horizontally. Screen retained in side tracks and stored in standard shutter box at top.
5.10Force 12 700 Series Rolling Doors-HVHZ may be used in High Velocity Hurricane Zone as a door with proper separation from glazing.
5.11Force 12 700 Series Rolling Fabric Shutter Non-HVHZ may be used a shutter in non-HVHZ.
5.12For further specification refer to Approved Evaluation Report and Installation Instructions as referencedin FBC Product approval FL 11131 for HVHZ, FL11132 for Non-HVHZ and Texas Department of Insurance #SHU-181.
PART 6 QUALITY ASSURANCE
6.1Manufacturer of the Hurricane Protection Screens must have a current Quality Compliance Certification with a Certified Quality Assurance Entity, Miami-Date County Building Code Compliance Office or equivalent.
6.2Contractor shall submit a copy of the Notice of Acceptance from Miami-DadeCounty, Building Code Compliance Office, Product Control Division and FBC Product Approval.
6.3Contractor shall provide shop drawings for fabrication and erection of the screen system units and fasteners. Include plans, elevations and detail specifics to the project location. Indicate location and types of anchors and fasteners to be provided at each location.
6.4Manufacturer or authorized dealer’s representative to provide quality assurance supervision on site during installation.
6.5Contractor shall provide engineer sealed drawings and calculations for site specific installation, prior to installation.
6.6Contractor shall install the first (prototype) screen independent of the remainder of the install in order to allow for review and approval by City Project Manager.
6.7Each separate screen shall be identified with a permanent tag or label that identifies the install location for future deployment. Contractor shall provide deployment instructions referencing each screen location in accordance with the labeling system of each individual screen.
PART 7 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
7.1Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
PART 8 INSTALLATION
8.1Installer shall be trained and certified by manufacturer to install Hurricane Protection.
8.2Manufacturer or authorized dealer’s representative shall be present at time of installation to provide oversight and certification of proper installation procedures.
8.3Contractor must comply with the manufacturer’s instructions and recommendations
