THE CHANCELLOR’S AWARDFOREXCELLENCE IN

RESEARCH AND CREATIVE SCHOLARSHIP FOR

ACADEMICYEAR2015-2016

Fall 2015, Spring 2016, and Summer 2016

TheChancellor’s Award for Excellencein Researchand CreativeScholarship representsoneofthe University’shighest honors. The award pays specialrecognition to ourmost accomplished scholars. Each fall, nominationswill beaccepted.TheUSFSPResearch Council thenreviewsand selects theUSFSt. Petersburgmost outstandingscholar/artist. Thehonoreewill beintroduced and recognized attheFacultyand StaffAwardsLuncheonin the spring.

GUIDELINES

I. Eligibility

Candidatesmust meet the followingcriteria:

Must beafull-timefacultymemberofUSFSPfor thepriorcalendar year.

Must havenot previouslyreceived thisaward within the last five years (i.e., since 2010).

Must beemployed byUSFSt. Petersburgat thetimethe award ispresented.

II. Nominations

Thenominationprocess worksin thefollowingway:

Nominationscan bemadebyanymember oftheuniversitycommunity(includingself- nominations).

Nominations should besubmittedto theRegionalViceChancellor’s Office via email to

TheRegional ViceChancellor’s Officewill inform facultyofthenominations.

III. ApplicationProcess

Applicantsmust submit thefollowing:

Curriculumvitae

A two-pagenarrative describingtheimportance andmeaningofone’sresearchand creative scholarship.

Note: narrative must be single-spaced, Times Roman, 12 pt font size and no more than two pages (more than two pages will not be considered by the committee).

Include evidence of the impact of your research work in your narrative application; whatpeer-review, citation information, reviews, endorsements, and/or awards substantiate your work?

Do NOT include examplesof publications(books, chapters, articles, and fiction),artworkand graphicdesign(photographs, commissioned worksandexhibitions),and contributionsto the advancement ofknowledge (publishedexperimentsand web sites).

What is the percentage of assigned duties in research per year over the last 5 years? This information can be obtained from the FAIR system.

Accomplishmentsduringtheprior five calendar years will beweighted moreheavily, althoughcareer research and creativescholarship will betaken intoaccount. Amajorityofand/or substantive progresstowardstheseaccomplishments should havebeen completed career research and creativescholarship will betaken intoaccount. Amajorityofand/or substantive progresstowardstheseaccomplishments should havebeen completed while atUSFSt. Petersburg.

Onlythosematerials specificallyrequested will beconsidered.

IV. Procedures

The Office of Academic Affairsshall announce the Faculty Awards nominations andmake availabletoall facultythe application andguidelinesfor theChancellor’s Award for Excellencein Research andCreativeScholarship.

Upon nomination,applications can besubmitted to theOfficeofRegional ViceChancellor ofAcademicAffairs in PDF format as one file. Submissions should be sentvia email and must be received by theposted deadline.

TheRegional ViceChancellor shall forward thematerialsto theUSFSt. PetersburgFacultyResearch Council.

Thewinner (one recipient) will receiveaplaqueindicatingthat heor shehas won the institution’shighest award for researchand creativescholarship.

Thewinner shallreceiveaone-time award of$5,000.

V. Deadlines

Materialsmaybesubmitted up to 5:00p.m. onthedayindicated.
