INFORMATION SHEET

The GAVS Voluntary and Community OrganisationsAwards 2014, sponsored byLondon and Quadrant Housing Trust, are a great opportunity to celebrate Voluntary and Community Organisations (VCOs) and passionate individuals who make a positive impact on our communities in Greenwich. We want to acknowledge these exceptional organisations and individuals, by presenting the Awards at the GAVS AGM on Thursday 9th October 2014. Winners receive a certificate and £200 cash prize.

Guidance

There will be five Award categories under the headings: (1) Community Cohesion, (2) Positive Impact on Health and Well-being, (3) Positive Impact on Young People, (4) Significant Contribution by an Individual.(5) Most effective Representative from the Voluntary and Community Sector. Only organisations can be nominated in categories 1 to 3. The following general criteria will be used to judge entrants under all categories:

Positive impact, on a basis relative to size of the organisation, quality and value for money (50%)

Innovation (15%)

Reach of services/activities (geographical and/or user profile) (20%)

Sustainability (15%)

  • Organisations nominated are required to be members of GAVS. Individuals nominated are not required to be members of GAVS.
  • Entrants can nominate themselves or be nominated, by completing the enclosed nomination form in hard copy or electronic form.
  • Electronic copies need to be signed by hand and scanned or posted to the GAVS office.
  • Nomination forms must be returned to the GAVS office by5:00pm Friday 19th September
  • Nominations will be received and stored in the GAVS office until completion of the AGM.
  • Every reasonable effort will be made to ensure the nominations process is inclusive of all groups, regardless of disability, age, gender, sexuality, race or faith.
  • The decision of the judging panel is final.
