MAIRANGI BAY

AT WESTPARK MARINA

ON 22ND APRIL 2008

CONSTRUCTION

G.R.P. – Hull, decks and superstructure.

Length 9.2M

OA 9.4M

Beam 3.4M

Draft 1.7M

Powered by a 27HP Yanmar Diesel Engine.

HULL UNDERWATER

This area was sounded using a traditional hammer-sound method.

No delaminations were found, but there are numerous osmotic blisters,

both sides.

These can be repaired by grinding them out, chasing the moisture with the grinder. The smaller ones can then be coated with epoxy resin and filled and faired with epoxy filler and coated with epoxy primer. The longer, deeper ones need to be filled with chopped strand mat and vynelester resin and then faired and coated with an epoxy primer.

There was no evidence of electrolosis on the 16” x 11” three bladed, bronze propeller.

The zinc anode on the 1” stainless steel shaft is still in good working condition. The strut is bronze.

The shaft and propeller have been coated with prop-speed but this is past its used by date.

The antifouling is in a reasonable condition but will need to be redone shortly.

There is minimal wear in the strut bearing.

TOPSIDES

These areas were sounded using the same method.

There are gel-coat cracks around both chain locker drains.

The belting is loose in places on the starboard side.

COCKPIT

The gas bottle is stowed in a dedicated locker.

This needs to be vented outboard.

DECKS AND COAMINGS

These areas were sounded and no delaminations were found.

There are some gel-coat cracks at the aft end of the teak packer for the Spinnaker Snatch Block on the starboard side.

COACHROOF

The winch needs servicing.

INTERIOR

All skin fittings and sea cocks were checked.

The skin fittings are bronze and the sea cocks are Philmac.

All operated freely. There is a PVC sea cock.

The keel bolts were checked.

There is an electric bilge pump. The bilges were dry.

There are some rusting bolts on the chain plate

-4-

There are some loose hinges on the locker door in the saloon, starboard side.

All bulkhead-hull joints were checked where possible.

The light in the navigatorium is not working.

The fuel and water tanks are stainless steel.

There is a holding tank for the toilet.

There is a 30lb Manson plough anchor with chain and rope ground tackle.

There is a spare plough anchor.

The navigation lights were checked. The stern light is not working.

The anchor light appears to be working but needs to be checked at night.

The rigging was checked from the deck only and appears to be in a reasonable condition. It would be prudent to have it checked by a professional rigger.

There is a Uniden MC535 VHF Radio, a Navman Depth Sounder, a Navigator 2 Auto Pilot, a Dry Powder and BCF Fire Extinguisher and OOD Flares.

This vessel is approximately 30 years old and is still in a sound and seaworthy condition.

This report is based on our experience of both building and repairing commercial and pleasure craft.

The above is my considered opinion given without prejudice, and carried out with due care and diligence.

-5-

This report is both a visual and physical inspection at the time and no responsibility will be accepted for any errors, omissions or latent defects.
