North East Cross Country Festival
The first festival of the year took place today at Cardinal Heenan where the top 5 girls and boys from the class races in years 4, 5 and 6 made up teams for the North East Cross Country Festival. This is a qualifier for the West Yorkshire Winter Games in February.
The weather was awful, pouring rain, cold and windy but every child finished their race, with many bettering their previous results at this event and many in the top 20. Despite the terrible weather, there were around 80 children in each race. The children did a fantastic job of supporting each other by encouraging, cheering and congratulating each other. We are really, really proud of every one who took part and also very grateful to the brave parents who helped out. Please email any photos to school to add to the blog on the learning platform.
Individual results are as follows, team results will be emailed to us later (keep your fingers crossed for some top 3 places, the team scores were brilliant this year!)

New Parents and Carers Website
Please take a look at the new version of www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents website for parents and carers. The new site offers a completely refreshed suite of articles and guidance on all aspects of child internet safety.
Families can visit www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents to access advice and support on how to keep children safe from sexual abuse, both online and off. Articles provide guidance on topics as diverse as: challenging harmful sexual attitudes and promoting positive behaviours; helping a child with autism negotiate life online; supporting a child who has been sexually abused; and dealing with a range of online issues such as sending nude selfies and viewing pornography. Users will find films, downloadable guides and useful links to support organisations.
Christmas Tree Bauble Competition
Here are the results of the recent competition to estimate the number of baubles on the school Christmas tree in the hall. There are 157 baubles on the tree. The children with the 3 best estimates win a small selection box. We decided to award a small bag of gold / silver coins to 8 runners up because their estimates were so good!

Korfball
A group of ten Year 6 children (who are the Sports Ambassadors) went to Carnegie Sports Hall (Becketts Park Campus) to take part in a korfball workshop. Korfball is a ball sport, with similarities to netball and basketball. We were one of three schools taking part. The children had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon learning new skills and playing matches. They all received a certificate and a medal.
Tea -Towels
Tea-towels are available to buy at this and next week's bun-sales.
You can also order them using the reply slip that was book-bagged or emailed out or just send in a note with your child's name, year-group and how many you want.
