Activation

Response

Provide psychological first aid to respondersand/or members of the affected population(FamilyAssistance Center, Special Needs Shelters, hospitals.

Provide referrals to local behavioralhealth providers and other community resources.
Complete required forms and turn them in to your supervisor at the end of the operational period.

Greeter

Position Requirements:Non-licensed professionals with some medical background preferred, public speakingand good communication skills.

Response

Ensure no one enters the facility that is not on the access list and/or does not have appropriate identification.
Direct all media inquiries to the Division or Group Supervisor on site or to the Public Information Officer at the Emergency Operations Center – Joint InformationCenter.
Orient clients to the process: flow,expected wait time and what clients can expect.
Inform clients of the resources available to assist them: language interpretation, assistance for people with disabilities, behavioral health consultation, etc.
Direct clients to proceed to the registration/check-in area.
Direct all media inquiries to the Public Information Officer or Division/Group
Supervisor.

Demobilization

Health Educator

Evaluate clients that are referred from triage for further screening/evaluation.

If it is determined that a client requires medical treatment, ensure EMS 911 services are contacted and patient is transported to the hospital.
Maintain contact with Safety Officer and Division/Group Supervisor regarding the need to transport a client to the hospital.
Provide instructions to clients and staff as needed.
Refer clients who are distressed, upset or anxious to behavioral health staff area.
Direct all media inquiries to the Public Information Officer or Division/Group
Supervisor.

Assist shelterees in settling into their space and answer questions regarding location of bathroom, etc.
Keep shelterees aware of time and inquire if assistance is needed with self- administered medications and treatments – informing a licensed nurse if help is needed.
Be aware of shelterees’ mental status.
Sit and talk with clients.
Keep shelterees up to date on status of event.
Keep the shelterees as calm as possible.
Report particular needs of shelterees.
Assisting in ambulating and transfers.
Provide diversional activities, conversation, etc.
Assist in acquiring food and/or feeding as needed.
Assist in keeping areaclean and free of trash.
Be aware of clients in need of special diets.

Document product administered on client’s form, including lot # and/or label.

Properly clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces and dispose of contaminated items.
Observe for immediate reactions/complications and respond; request assistance as needed.
