No Smoking Day – March 12th

Do make sure you use the opportunity of national No Smoking Day to publicise your pharmacy’s Stop Smoking Services and encourage your patients to quit. This year it is March 12th. The theme this year is V for Victory (you can have a closer look at )You may prefer not to use this particular theme, as some of the connotations may not resonate well with our target audience. We do not need to use the NSD branded materials as the focus locally will be on driving smokers into our stop smoking services. It may therefore be better to order your resources from the local services and also the national resource website where you will find a whole host of free resources .

Easter Opening Hours

If your opening hours will change don’t forget to update your website, and NHS Choices.

National Patient Safety Alerting System launched

NHS England has launched a newNational Patient Safety Alerting System (NPSAS), which it will use to ensure warnings of potential risks to the safety of patients can be swiftly developed and disseminated to every corner of the NHS.

The system takes a three-stage alerting approach based on those used in other high-risk industries, such as aviation.
Also, providers of NHS care will be made more accountable for fulfilling the requirements of an alert through the monthly publishing of data on the NHS England website that will name any trust who fails to declare they have complied with any of the three stages of alert within the set timeframes.

For further information about the new three-stage system, please visitpsnc.org.uk/our-news/national-patient-safety-alerting-system-launched
