Quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment (QTLA)

Job Description

General

  • To be a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) under the direction of the Vice Principal (Outcomes & QTLA).
  • To implement and support all Academy policies.
  • To ensure that the Academy aims are put into practice and lead the drive for continuous improvement.
  • To be responsible for raising standards of attainment, learning and progress to ensure all students receive high quality lessons.
  • To secure the highest standards of teaching and learning to ensure that each student is able to achieve and fulfil their potential.
  • To act as an inspiring role model for the quality of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • To ensure Heads of Faculty are supported in improving the teaching and learning in their departments with appropriate information and development opportunities.
  • To ensure teachers are supported and motivated in their continued professional development by identifying strengths, areas for growth and opportunities for development.

Academic, Personal and Social

  • To oversee the Academy’s QTLA.
  • To collaborate and share high quality practice with other faculties and the wider community.
  • To ensure the successful application of the most effective teaching and learning policies for our students.
  • To manage a programme of lesson observations/learning walks and drop-ins that provide evidence of the quality of teaching and learning that support the CPD of colleagues and maximise student progress.
  • To establish clear protocols and timelines for the monitoring activities, consequent action plans and evidence of their success.
  • To lead and be responsible for the strategic implementation of BlueSky in all aspects of QTLA including ITT.
  • To lead and be responsible for the development and successful administration of appraisal through BlueSky such that it promotes CPD, high aspirations and the best outcomes for students.
  • To line manage the Lead Practitioners.
  • To support and promote all aspects of the Academy Improvement Plan.

Community

  • To work with other leaders and managers to develop a diverse and rich curriculum for the Academy and wider community.
  • To implement and be responsible for a range of Academy and wider community based learning experiences.
  • To work in partnership with a range of outside agencies.

  • To collaborate and work with other schools/settings in the SchoolsCompany Trust within the role at Goodwin Academy.

The post holder may be required from time to time to undertake other duties as may be reasonably expected, without changing the general character of the duties or level of responsibility entailed.
