Course Description:

This year we will tackle Common Core Algebra II using the emathinstruction book. Topics that will be covered include:A review of Algebraic Essentials, Functions, Linear Functions, Exponential and Logarithmic Functions, Sequences and Series, Quadratic Functions, Transformations of Functions, Radicals, Complex Numbers, Polynomial and Rational Functions, Circular Functions, Probability, and Statistics. We will also spend a substantial amount of time reviewing for the June Regents Examination.

Required Materials:

  • Pens and pencils with eraser
  • Highlighter
  • 2-3 inch binder
  • 3 binder dividers labeled notes/homework ; quizzes/tests; vocabulary/ handouts
  • Student Laptop

Classroom Expectations:

  1. Be on time, in your seat, and ready to start class when the bell rings.
  2. Have all your materials (binder, charged laptop, pencils, homework) with you daily.
  3. Be prepared to participate.
  4. Listen to and follow instructions.
  5. Respect others and their property.
  6. No food or cell phones in the classroom.

Evaluation:

Grades are calculated based on total points. Homework will be assigned nightly and checked daily. Short daily homework quizzes will serve as checks for understanding. Homework will sometimes be computer based.

Late assignments will be counted at 50% credit if complete and correct.

Quizzes and tests will be given for each unit. A notebook grade may be given each marking period to

check for completeness and organization.

Absences:

Students who are absent are expected to make up work in a timely manner. Copies will be available and should be picked up during homeroom of the day of your return to school. Assignments not completed will

receive a score of 0.

Help:

When working on homework it is helpful to look back at your class notes and examples so your binder should go home with you as a resource to help with homework. I am available for questions daily during homeroom and 9th and 10th period. I can also be available after school by appointment.
