AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF ISLANDHEIGHTS,

COUNTY OF OCEAN, STATE OF NEW JERSEY, AMENDLNG

AND SUPPLEMENTLLNG ORDNANCE 91-08 ENTITLED

POLICE COMMITTEE.

BE IT ORDAINED, by the governing body of the Borough of Island Heights, County of Ocean, State of New Jersey as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 2-16.22 (a) of the Borough Code of the Borough of Island Heights entitled “Police Committee Established,” is hereby amended and supplemented so as to include the following:

a. It is the purpose of this Police Committee to provide a civilian review board to review the operations of the Police Department,to develop and foster better Relations between the Police Department and the residents.

c. Meetings shall be quarterly or as requested by a majority of the committee.

SECTION 2. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause phrase or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision, and such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions hereof.

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect after second reading and publication as required by law.

PUBLIC NOTICE

The ordinance published herewith was introduced and passed upon first reading at a meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Island Heights, County of Ocean, State of New Jersey, held on June 12th, 2007. It will be further considered for final adoption after a public hearing thereon, at a meeting of said governing body to be held at the MunicipalBuilding. Van Sant & East End Avenues, Island Heights, New Jersey, on June 26th, 2007. And during the week prior to, up to and including the date of such meeting, copies of said ordinance will be made available at the Clerk’s Office to the members of the general public who shall request the same.
