Fun issue. I attended a Drinking Liberally last month on 38th. Late, I misread the parking signs and paid a $25 fine. Multiple signs are easily misread. A calendar and especially color coding would add a couple more dimensions of clarity. (Royal purple for residents, with light lavender for daytime, deep purple with white letters for evening and middle purple for always? Yellow, like the street sweepers? RTD signs are already red and so might No Parking, but pink for loading during the day?)

Mostly, more parking, fewer tickets - use our cops to better purpose. Hick won on this issue, politicians. I posted a link to your petition on CivicSatisfaction.org

More. Any area with residential permits likely needs a parking garage that blends with the neighborhood. Are parking revenues sufficient to avoid a bond issue? Are city owned properties available or sections of parks? Underground, above or both? This is a city money maker but to keep parking prices down for business, parking garages should make no more than 10% profit after costs and maintenance, and within likely inflation? Liaise with residents and business, RTD and light rail. Parking garages can easily be on back streets? Long lasting structures since public transport will not eliminate cars? Easy access is free or cheap for business, resident permits include free or cheap covered parking in second tier? Denver Public Works should study and map the easiest and most needed first. In human organization terms, you want at least 3 to 8% open parking during the most crowded for poor folk who are willing to hunt down free spots. Where called for, easy low cost (but profitable for Denver - DURA?) loans to turn parking lots into garages – especially side lots of businesses or with store signs where a blending garage blocks the immediate view of the actually store and help to rebuild with parking in back?

Do you need a consultant? – I’m not teaching this summer. Also And while we are looking at parking, dare we call for timing the traffic lights or would that muddy the water?
