ELIGIBILITY TO WORK IN THE UK – DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED

In accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, you must supply original documentation proving that you have the right to stay and eligibility to work in the United Kingdom (UK). Please produce any of the original documents from either of the two lists below.

List A - ongoing entitlement to work in theUK

  • Passport showing the holder is a British citizen or a citizen of the UK and Colonies having right of abode in the UK. Passport or national identity card showing that the holder is a national of a European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.
  • Residence permit, registration certificate or document indicating permanent residence issued by the Home Office (HO) or the Border and Immigration Agency (BIA) to a national from an EEA country or Switzerland.
  • Permanent residence card issued by the HO of the BIA to the family member of a national of an EEA Country or Switzerland.
  • Biometric Immigration Document issued by the BIA to the hold which indicates the person named is allowed to stay indefinitely in the UK or has not time limit on their stay.
  • Passport or other travel document issued endorsed to show that the holder is exempt from immigration control, is allowed to stay indefinitely in the UK, has the right of abode in the UK, or has no time limit on their stay.
  • Immigration Status Document issued by the HO of BIA to the holder with an endorsement indicating the holder is allowed to stay indefinitely or without time limit in the UK, when produced in combination with a document issued by a Government Agency or former employer, giving the person’s permanent NI Number and their name.
  • A full birth or adoption certificate issued in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Ireland which includes the names of at least one of the holder’s parents/adopted parents, when produced in combination with a document issued by a Government Agency or former employer, giving the person’s permanent NI Number and their name.
  • A certificate of registration or naturalisation as a British Citizen, when produced in combination with a document issued by a Government Agency or former employer, giving the person’s permanent NI Number and their name.
  • A letter issued by the HO or the BIA to the holder which indicates that the person named is allowed to stay indefinitely in the UK when produced in combination with a document issued by a Government Agency or former employer, giving the person’s permanent NI Number and their name.

List B - restrictions on your entitlement to be and work in the UK– these checks will need to be repeated on a regular basis

  • Passport, travel document,a work permit or other approval to take employment issued by the HO or the BIA (when produced in combination with either a passport or another travel document),a Biometric Immigration Document issued by the BIA - endorsed to show that the holder is allowed to stay in the UK and do the type or work in question (one that does not require the issue of a work permit). Or letter issued by the HO or the BIA to the holder, employer or prospective employer confirming the same.
  • Certificate of application issued by the HO or the BIA to or for a family member of a national of an EEA country or Switzerland stating that the holder is permitted to take employment, which is less than 6 months old, when produced in combination with evidence of verification by the BIA Employer Checking service.
  • Residence card or document issued by the HOor BIA to a family member of a national of an EEA country or Switzerland.
  • Application Registration Card issued by the HO or the BIA stating that the holder is permitted to take employment, when produced in combination with evidence of verification by the BIA Employer Checking Service.
  • Immigration Status Document issued by the HO or the BIA to the holder with an endorsement indicating that the person named can stay in the UK and do the work in question, when produced in combination with a document issued by a Government Agency or former employer, giving the person’s permanent NI Number and their name.
  • Letter issued by the HO or the BIA to the holder, employer or prospective employer that indicates that the person named can stay in the UK and do the work in question, when produced in combination with a document issued by a Government Agency or former employer, giving the person’s permanent NI Number and their name.
