LeeGreen Assembly Funding

LeeGreen Assembly funding is now open for groups and organisation who can deliver projects which improve the Lee Green area. The main purpose of the grant is to assist the Assembly to deliver actions in their LocalPlan.

As such, all funding proposals must show how the project they are proposing meets one or more actions on the Assembly Local plan.

Lee Green priorities and the Local Plan

Lee Green Assembly has decided earlier this year that the five priorities already agreed would be retained. These have been Leegate and the community centre, young people, the environment, parking and older people. However, they also agreed that these needed to be added to and linked, in order to provide a more coherent approach to planning and action.

To achieve this, we have been working to develop a Local Plan to provide a framework for looking at how best to improve people’s lives – our health, housing, education and community services and facilities, as well as our parks, roads, shops and workplaces.

Lee Green Assembly Mission Statement

“We will help make Lee Green a healthy, stimulating and safe environment in which all residents can live, work, learn and enjoy their leisure.”

We hope to involve people from all parts of the ward while working to help people of all ages and backgrounds to achieve their aspirations and overcome any disadvantage.

In working together, we hope to develop a new – or enhance an existing – sense of a vibrant and supportive community in Lee Green.

Bidding for Assembly funds

You will have read in the guidance that there is £12,500 available for the Assembly to vote on to support larger bids (£1000 and more) that meet the Assembly’s priorities in a strategic way.

In addition, there is £2,500 to support local groups in making smaller bids (up to £1000) as decided at the discretion of your local councillors. Lee Green’s councillors – Simon Hooks, Jim Mallory and Pat Raven – have agreed that this discretionary fund should also be voted on by the Assembly.

In making your bid, please look at the Local Plan (draft) to see how any ideas you or your community group have, might fit and write your bid up in a way that makes links between the different strands within the Local Plan – for example:

  • How environmental benefits might fit with the section on improving our streets and roads?
  • How some community activity might improve the lives of younger or older people?
  • How the use of volunteers’ time could be counted as an extra contribution towards the overall cost of the bid?

Community togetherness, promoting neighbourliness and overcoming disadvantage will be important in developing the Local Plan, and you should bear these in mind when putting together your bid.

In addition, we would consider favourably bids that seek to link funds from other agencies – local or national.
