Personal Electronic Device

Agreement

In response to requests to use a personal electronic device (PED*) during the school day, students must agree to abide by the requirements below, sign with their parents, and return this agreement to their school before bringing a PED.Any violation of this agreement may result in suspension of this privilege and/or disciplinary action.

  1. The sole purpose for the use of the PED during the school day is for educational reasons.
  2. The PED is only to be used during the instructional class period with express permission of the classroom teacher. This may mean that the device will be permitted for some instructional activities but not for all.
  3. It is recommended that students connect to the district’s guest WIFI. By doing so students access the district’s internet filters.
  4. The PED will not be given access to the district’s secure online resources.
  5. The Rock Hill School District (RHSD) will NOT provide any support for the PED at any time.
  6. ALL PED’s ARE BROUGHT TO SCHOOL AT THE OWNER’S RISK. Neither RHSD NOR THE SCHOOL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEFT OR DAMAGE TO THE PED.
  7. Use of the PED for unauthorized gaming is prohibited on school property.
  8. Administrators may ban an individual from using a PED if deemed necessary. PED’s may be confiscated at any time if guidelines are not followed. The return of the device will be contingent on the outcome of a meeting with student and parent.
  9. It is time prohibitive for school personnel to monitor individual student use of electronic devices beyond what is expected for instructional purposes. Therefore, parents shall be responsible for monitoring whether or not their child is using the device appropriately and responsibly.

*A PED is any personal electronic device.
