Principal’s Report:
~ As of Sept 19 there are 346 students enrolled in Fairview Heights Elementary. 15 classes and just approved for one more teacher for annex. The hard cap for P to 3 is 22 and soft cap is 20.
There are already 6 classes at the Annex and no physical space for another classroom. Ms Walker and Mr Barro will be working out the details and logistics this week of where the new class will go in the Main building and which students.

~Provincial testing for grade 3, reading and writing and grade 4 math will be oct 3 week. Grade 6 testing reading, writing and math will begin week of Sept. 28
~SSP-Student Success Planning. The upcoming PD day will be focussing on revising the plan.
~Our school has been chosen by Indigo for adopt a school – support by donating online only
~New teaching standards to come into effect next year, some schools are piloting them this year.
~Caring School Community – Implementation has started
~Fire Department had their Walk Through of both buildings
~Breakfast Program will be starting soon with same format as last year
~Bussing is still an issue this year with late drop off in the mornings which then disrupt teaching that has already began.
~A Memorandum came out stating that all evening School Events must be held on Thursday Evenings.
~New playground equipment was installed over the summer at the Annex playground, replaced a structure.This was initiated and installed by HRM, no input was asked for from the school, there was no charge to the school.
~Membership to be discussed at next meeting
~Discipline committee to be formed at next meeting.
