Position Description

King & Spalding's Washington, D.C. office seeks a highly qualified first-year law student to join our 2017 summer associate program as our 2017 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) 1L Scholar. LCLD is a national organization of corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners dedicated to creating a diverse legal profession.

The 2017 LCLD Scholar will participate in King & Spalding’s 2017 summer associate program in the Washington, D.C. office. The 2017 Washington, D.C. summer associate program dates have not been finalized, but we anticipate that our 2017 summer program will span at least nine weeks, beginning in May and concluding in July.

Qualifications

Candidates must be current first-year students, have excellent academic credentials (first semester grades must be in the top 20% of the 1L class), and demonstrate a record of community service and leadership accomplishments. Candidates should have ties to the Washington, D.C. area and/or an interest in practicing law in Washington, D.C. Candidates must have an ethnically or culturally diverse background or be a member of the LGBT community.
