Each child will have a specific job in the packaging process, our goal is to pack 4,500 meals! Please watch for more info coming home soon. As the quarter wraps up, we hope you have noticed the evidence work coming home. We have a new system for report cards using Campus online and if you have any questions, please contact your teacher for help. Third Grade

On Wednesday, October 18th, all Fairfield Third Graders went on a field trip to Van Buren County. They started their day in Bentonsport learning about what life was like long ago. Students saw a potter, a blacksmith, some Indian artifacts, went on a nature walk, and saw the bridge that crosses over the Des Moines River. Students then enjoyed a sack lunch at the shelter house before heading to Keosauqua. While in Keosauqua students were able to visit a log cabin, a one-room schoolhouse, the Pearson House, and play some old schoolyard games. Fairfield Glove, of Fairfield, donated shirts for each class to wear and also paid the donation to the Pearson House. All third graders appreciate their generosity in allowing them to expand their learning outside of the school. Thank you Fairfield Glove.

Fourth Grade

The4thgraders will continue to find text evidence in their reading as well as finding the theme in a story. Reading intervention groups have been going strong and we are continuing to work at reaching our winter FAST goal of 136 wcpm! In writing, they will be working on informative how-to's to teach each other about a specific process. In math, 4th grade will be working more on multiplication, geometry and taking their Unit 2 assessment. Science and social studies will include natural resources and learning Morse code!

Did you know?...

Arts improve academic performance. Students with an education rich in the arts have higher GPAs and standardized test scores, and lower drop-out rates—benefits reaped by students regardless of socio-economic status. Students with 4 years of arts or music in high school average 100 points higher on the verbal and math portions of their SATs than students with just one-half year of arts or music.
