Official Rules
November 6, 2017 – November 10, 2017
PRELIMINARY INFORMATION: No purchase necessary. A purchase will not improve your chances of winning. Void outside the WRC Terrestrial Geographic Viewing Area (as defined below) and where prohibited. The NBC4/NBC Experience Sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes”) begins on November 6, 2017 at 6:00 A.M. ET and ends on November 10, 2017 at 8:00 P.M. ET (“Sweepstakes Period”). All times in the Sweepstakes refer to Eastern Time (“ET”). Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible Entries (defined below) received. Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws. PRIZE (DEFINED BELOW) DOES NOT INCLUDE PARKING.
ELIGIBILITY: Open only to permanent, legal United States residents who are physically located in: the District of Columbia; the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Frederick, Clarke, Fauquier, Loudoun, Warren, Jefferson, Culpeper, King George, Orange, Page, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, Westmoreland, in the state of Virginia; the counties of Montgomery, Prince George’s, Calvert, Charles, Frederick, Allegany, St. Mary’s, and Washington in the state of Maryland; the county of Fulton in the state of Pennsylvania; or, the counties of Berkeley, Jefferson, Mineral, Hampshire, Morgan, Hardy and Grant in the state of West Virginia (collectively, the “WRC Terrestrial Geographic Viewing Area”), and who are twenty one (21) years of age or older as of the start of the Sweepstakes Period. Officers, directors, and employees of Sweepstakes Entities (as defined below), members of these persons’ immediate families (spouses and/or parents, children, and siblings, and their spouses, regardless of where they reside); and/or persons living in the same households as these persons (whether related or not) are not eligible to enter or win the Sweepstakes. Sweepstakes Entities, as referenced herein, shall include WRC, 4001 Nebraska Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20016, NBCUniversal Media, LLC, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10112 (collectively, “Sponsors”), and their respective parent, subsidiary, and affiliate companies, administrative, advertising, and promotion agencies, and any other entity involved in the development, administration, promotion, or implementation of the Sweepstakes. Winner (defined below) must be able to attend Events (defined below) on the date(s) and time(s) as provided by Sponsors in their sole discretion. Guest (defined below) must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older at the start of the Sweepstakes Period.
HOW TO ENTER: The Sweepstakes consists of five (5) individual daily entry periods (each a “Daily Entry Period”) that will begin at a specified time (each a “Daily Entry Period Start Time”) and end at a specified time (each a “Daily Entry Period End Time”) as detailed in the chart below, and one random drawing will be conducted on or about November 14, 2017 (the “Drawing Date”) from among all eligible Entries (defined below) received during each Daily Entry Period during the Sweepstakes Period. Entries must be received before the end of each Daily Entry Period to be eligible for the Prize (defined below). There will be one (1) Winner (defined below) selected from all eligible Entries collected during the Sweepstakes Period.

To enter the Sweepstakes, during the Sweepstakes Period, watch News4 Today from 6:00 A.M. ET to 6:30 A.M. ET on NBC4 Washington, and News4 from 4:30 P.M. ET to 5:00 P.M. ET on NBC4 Washington (collectively, the “Show”) on Monday, November 6 2017, Tuesday, November 7, 2017, Wednesday, November 8, 2017, Thursday, November 9, 2017 and Friday, November 10, 2017, to obtain the secret unique code word (“Code Word,” collectively “Code Words”) for each individual Show. Then, visit the WRC website at www.nbcwashington.com (the “Website”) and search for the keyword “NYC,” or click on the “Contests” tab, and follow the provided instructions to complete and thereafter submit the entry form, which includes your name, address, telephone number, email address and the Code Word (“Entry”). A different Code Word will be issued during each Show during the Sweepstakes Period. There will be a total of ten (10) Code Words issued during the Sweepstakes Period, with two (2) Code Words per day (one (1) unique Code Word for News4 Today and one (1) unique Code Word for News4). Entries must include the correct applicable Code Word to be eligible for the Sweepstakes. All Entries become the property of Sponsors and will not be acknowledged.
You may enter up to two (2) times per Daily Entry Period (with the one (1) unique Code Word from News4 Today, and the one (1) unique code from News4 for the corresponding Daily Entry Period), for a total of ten (10) Entries during the entire Sweepstakes Period. Multiple Entries received from any person beyond this limit will void all such additional Entries. Entries must be received before November 10, 2017 at 8:00 P.M. to be eligible for the Sweepstakes. Sponsors’ computer shall be the official timekeeper for all matters related to this Sweepstakes. Entries generated by a script, macro, or other automated means will be disqualified. Entries that are incomplete, garbled, corrupted, or unintelligible for any reason, including, but not limited to, computer or network malfunction or congestion, are void and will not be accepted. In case of a dispute over the identity of an entrant, the authorized account holder of the email address used to enter will be deemed to be the entrant. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. Entry constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use entrant’s name, city, state, likeness, image, and/or voice for purposes of advertising, promotion, and publicity in any and all media now or hereafter known, throughout the world in perpetuity, without additional compensation, notification, permission, or approval.
PRIVACY: Entrants will have the opportunity to receive information from Sponsors and selected partners by checking the appropriate box(es). If, at any time, you no longer wish to receive materials from Sponsors or our partners, please go to our privacy policy, located at www.nbcuni.com/privacy, or the applicable partner’s privacy policy and follow the procedures indicated.
WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION: On or about November 14, 2017, one (1) potential winner (“Winner”) will be selected in a random drawing by representatives of Sponsors from all eligible Entries received during the Sweepstakes Period. Sponsors will make three (3) attempts to notify potential Winner at the phone number and/or email address submitted at the time of Entry. Sponsors may share potential Winner’s name and contact information with Sweepstakes Entities and/or any prize provider, as applicable, if necessary. Potential Winner may be required to execute and return an affidavit of eligibility, release of liability, and, except where prohibited, publicity release (collectively, “Sweepstakes Documents”) within two (2) days of such notification. Noncompliance within this time period will result in disqualification, and, at Sponsors’ sole discretion an alternate potential Winner may be selected from the remaining eligible Entries. If a potential Winner cannot be reached, is found to be ineligible, cannot or does not comply with these Official Rules, or if Prize (as defined below) or Prize notification is returned as undeliverable, such potential Winner will be disqualified and time permitting, at Sponsors’ sole discretion, an alternate potential Winner may be selected from the remaining eligible Entries.
PRIZE: There will be one (1) prize (“Prize”) awarded to Winner. Prize will consist of a trip for Winner and one (1) guest (“Guest”) to New York, NY (“Trip”).
Trip includes the following: two (2) Amtrak reserved coach tickets (“Tickets”) for Winner and Guest from Union Station, 50 Massachusetts Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20002 to Pennsylvania Station, New York, NY 10010; hotel accommodations for Winner and Guest for three (3) days/two (2) nights (single room/double occupancy; room and tax only) at a hotel in or around New York, NY (to be determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion) (“Hotel”); two (2) tickets for Winner and Guest to a taping of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, scheduled to take place November 28, 2017 (Time TBD) at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10112 (“Jimmy Fallon Event”); two (2) TODAY VIP tickets for Winner and Guest, valid for November 29, 2017 (“TODAY Event”); two (2) tickets for Winner and Guest to the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting, currently scheduled to take place beginning at 7:00 P.M. ET on November 29, 2017, at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10112 (“Tree Lighting Event”); and, a two hundred dollar ($200) check made out to the Winner (“Check”). Winner must be able to attend the Events (defined below) on the date(s) and time(s) as determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion. Guest must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older at the start of the Sweepstakes Period. PRIZE DOES NOT INCLUDE PARKING.
Jimmy Fallon Event, TODAY Event, and Tree Lighting Event may collectively be referred to herein as “Events,” each an “Event.”
Estimated Retail Value (“ERV”) of Prize is fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500). Actual Retail Value (“ARV”) of Prize may vary. Any difference between stated ERV and ARV will not be awarded. Sponsors will furnish an Internal Revenue Service Form 1099 to winner for the ERV of Prize for the tax year in which Prize was won. Once Sponsors release the Check to the Winner, the Check must be cashed or deposited within ninety (90) days, or the check will be deemed void and Sponsors will not be held responsible. Prize is subject to certain terms and conditions, as specified by the issuer.
All details of Prize will be determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion. Sponsors reserve the right to substitute a similar Prize (or Prize element) of comparable or greater value. All taxes and other expenses, costs, or fees associated with the acceptance and/or use of Prize are the sole responsibility of Winner. Prize cannot be transferred by Winner or redeemed for cash and is valid only for the items detailed above, with no substitution of Prize by Winner. If Prize is unclaimed within a reasonable time after notification from Sponsors, as determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion, it will be forfeited, and time permitting, an alternate Winner may be selected from the remaining eligible Entries at Sponsors’ sole discretion.
Winner and Guest must be able to travel on dates provided by Sponsors or the Prize will be forfeited. Travel arrangements must be made through Sponsors’ agent, on a carrier of Sponsors’ choice. Certain travel restrictions and blackout dates may apply. Sponsors have the right in their sole discretion to substitute Tickets and/or form of transportation depending on Winner’s place of residence. Winner and Guest must travel together on the same itinerary, including the same departure date, destination and return date, and must have valid travel documents (e.g., valid government issued photo ID and/or passport) prior to departure, and failure to do so will result in forfeiture of Prize. Sponsors will not replace any lost or stolen tickets, travel vouchers or certificates. Once travel commences, no unscheduled stopovers are permitted; if an unscheduled stopover occurs, full fare will be charged from stopover point for the remaining segments, including return, of the Trip. Sponsors are not liable for any expenses incurred as a consequence of cancellation/delay. Trip may not be combined with any other offer. All travel and lodging will be at the risk of Winner and Guest. Winner is solely responsible for all expenses and costs associated with acceptance and/or use of Prize not specifically stated herein as being awarded, including, without limitation any and all taxes and other expenses, costs, or fees associated with the acceptance and/or use of Prize, travel insurance, ground transportation (other than as described above), security and fees, taxes, insurance, gasoline, meals, gratuities, and souvenirs. Sponsors shall have the right, but not the obligation, to make any deductions and withholdings that Sponsors deem necessary or desirable under applicable federal, state and local tax laws, rules, regulations, codes or ordinances. Prize cannot be transferred or substituted by Winner or redeemed for cash and is valid only for the items detailed above, with no substitution of Prize by Winner.
Sponsors shall have no responsibility or liability for cancellations, delays, or any other change by any company or person providing any element of Prize due to reasons beyond Sponsors’ control, and are not responsible or liable for any expenses incurred as a consequence thereof. Date, time and/or location of Events are subject to change. Events are subject to cancellation. If Winner chooses to attend the Events with no Guest, the remaining elements of Prize shall constitute full satisfaction of Sponsors’ Prize obligation to Winner and no additional compensation will be awarded. Guest, if any, may be required to execute and return releases of liability and, where legal, publicity releases (collectively, “Guest Documents”), which must be returned with the Sweepstakes Documents, or Guest portion of the Prize will be forfeited. Winner and Guest, if any, agree to comply with all applicable rules and regulations in connection with Prize, including Hotel. Location of seats, if any, will be determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion. Guest must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older at the start of the Sweepstakes Period.
