FEI Canada Congratulates Winners of Best in Class 3rd Annual Invitational Case Competition

First time competitor HEC Montreal takes first place prize

Toronto, ON, November 10, 2008 – Financial Executives International Canada (FEI Canada), Toronto Chapter, the professional membership association for senior financial executives, congratulates HEC Montreal for placing first in the Best in Class 3rd Annual Invitational Case Competition held at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. FEI Canada further congratulates the MBA teams from Rotman School of Management, Haskayne School of Business and Sauder School of Business for their second, third and fourth place finishes.

The final round presentations of the two-day competition began on Saturday afternoon, with four out of 10 teams, advancing to the finals. Teams were given two hours to respond to a fictitious crisis at Pacific & Western Credit Corp. A panel of six judges, representing distinguished Canadian business leaders, evaluated the student team presentations and was tasked with selecting the winners of the 2008 Best in Class Case Competition.

“Congratulations to the winning teams as they have truly distinguished themselves as Best in Class. Thank you to all of the student participants and schools who contributed to the success of another Best in Class Invitational Case Competition,” said Judy Munro, CA, Chair, Best in Class Organizing Committee, FEI Canada Toronto Chapter. “All competitors demonstrated the qualities of business leadership that will serve them well in their careers and leaves one with tremendous confidence in the next generation of Canadian business leaders.”

“It is truly a privilege to have had the opportunity to compete among such esteemed MBA peers across Canada,” said Namita Vashi, team member of HEC Montreal, on accepting their $10,000 prize. “Our thanks to FEI Canada Toronto Chapter for inviting us to participate in the Best in Class Case competition. The experience has been very rewarding, and the thrill of winning, will be unforgettable.”

The competition concluded with a reception and awards dinner at Osgoode Hall, Saturday, November 8, 2008, which was attended byall student participants, judges, corporate sponsors, FEI members andDeans, faculty and alumni of participating schools.
