Articulation Agreement for 2009-10
Human Resources and Services Cluster
Family & Community Services Pathway
This Agreement, by and between Royal Valley High School, Topeka, Kansas and Kaw Area Technical School (KATS), Topeka, Kansas is made to provide our Technology Education Students, enrolled at KATS, the opportunity to earn a certificate of completion through Kaw Area Technical School’s programs. It is the hope of both parties that this cooperative effort will enhance the program acceleration and employment opportunities of our students.
Now, therefore, it is agreed by and between the parties as follows:
Royal Valley High School will provide the following Technology Initiate courses and competencies in Family and Consumer Sciences, the Family and Community Services pathway, which will be articulated as preparatory courses to enable students towards successful completion of competencies in an approved program at Kaw Area Technical School. High school course credits apply towards high school graduation requirements and do not align with KATS. Credits earned at KATS are towards the KATS program certificate.

1. Students must complete a minimum number of credits of instruction per program competency profile at KATS to be eligible for a certificate of completion.
2. All parties may advertise the programs and will jointly advise the students that this option is available to them.
3. Both parties agree to evaluate this Agreement annually and in the context of student benefits, program efficiency, and effectiveness.
4. This Agreement may be revised by mutual agreement and shall be modified in the event of cancellation, discontinuance, or disapproval of any course or program by the Kansas State Board of Education or Kansas State Board of Regents.
5. This Agreement is subject to change or cancellation by the legislature at any time in accordance with Article 6, Section 5 of the Kansas Constitution.
