Windham Instructional League Baseball/Softball -- Supplemental Rules
The current season Little League Rule Book will apply unless superceded by the following:
1. The score is not kept for games in this division.
2. Roster batting will be used. Every player who attends a game, whether he/she is in the field or not, will take his/her regular turn at bat throughout the game.
3. For the first half of the season, a team’s at bat is completed when the team has batted through the order. For the second half of the season, a team’s at bat is completed when three (3) outs are made or the team has batted through the order. There are no strikeouts. If a player is unable to hit the ball after 10 “hittable” pitches are thrown, then place the player on 1st base. The coach should give the player extra assistance in hitting during practice.
4. Players should play a different defensive position each inning.
5. When a runner/batter is obviously out as a result of a play made in the field, the player will be called out and not occupy a base. Outs are part of the game.
6. There is no advancement by any runner on overthrows.
7. In order to keep the game moving:
Coaches will pitch. You need to get the ball over the plate as close to waist high as possible. Players have a difficult time hitting balls pitched over their heads.
No juice or snack breaks until the game is over.
Start the game on time!
The defensive team is allowed to have 1 coach in fair territory to aid the players in being in the proper position.
When the team is at bat, 1 coach pitches, 1 coach catches, 1 coach at 1st base, 1 coach at 3rd base and a helper on the bench to keep the batters in order.
8. If a coach knows in advance that his/her team will not be available to play, that coach must notify the opposing coach as soon as possible.
9. Games are a minimum of 3 innings (maximum of 6 innings) or time limit (see below).

10. A definitive time limit to games that are proceeded by another game will be strictly enforced (i.e. Saturday’s). A new inning shall not begin after 1 1/2 hours from the scheduled start time.
11. Although there is not a definitive time limit to evening games, coaches must use discretion regarding darkness and safety. Rule of thumb to use: no new inning will start at, or after, 8PM.
12. Make-up games must be played ASAP. You must clear all make-up games with the Division Director to make sure there are no conflicts and notify concessions.
13. If the coaches decide to cancel a game before arriving at the field, then the home coach must contact the Concessionaire at least one (1) hour prior to the scheduled start of the game. Once there is a sighting of lightening by team managers or coaches, the game shall be stopped.
14. No player shall throw the bat (intentionally or unintentionally) upon hitting the ball. The first offense in a game is a warning to both teams. Upon the second offense (and beyond) in a game, the offending batter/runner will be called out and no runners will advance.
15. Little League rules prohibit on deck batters. All players for the team at bat, except the batter, should be on the bench.
16. Team managers, coaches, players, parents and spectators are not allowed behind the backstop.
17. Home Team/Coach Responsibilities:
Use 1B bench.
Provide two (2) game balls.
Make sure field is ready for play (i.e. drag infield, fill in holes on pitcher’s mound/batter’s box/outfield, lime foul lines/batter’s box, pick up any debris from field, etc.).
Ensure all trash is picked up in dugout and bleachers before leaving field.
Control your players and parents.
Take out/put away bases
18. Visiting Team/Coach Responsibilities:
Use 3B bench.
Ensure all trash is picked up in dugout and bleachers before leaving field.
Control your players and parents.
19. Disciplinary Actions:
Arguments, taunting, intimidation or other unsportsmanlike behavior between opposing coaches and players will not be tolerated. The throwing or kicking of bats, helmets, gloves, balls, etc., in an inappropriate manner is prohibited.
Players must be discouraged from making disparaging remarks and/or acting in an unsportsmanlike manner towards their own teammates. Coaches must take the appropriate disciplinary actions when and if these circumstances occur.
Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players (and their parents).
Players (and their parents) must be advised of the behavior expected of them.
Players (and their parents) must be advised of the disciplinary actions that will result from the inappropriate behavior described above.
