Justice, Revival, and the End-time Worship Movement (Isa. 42)

I.Jesus will establish justice in the nations (Isa. 42:1-4)

A.Isaiah prophesied the nature of Jesus’ ministry (42:1-4). He highlighted the tender mercy
that was expressed in Jesus’ ministry at His first coming (42:3) and gave assurance that
Jesus would establish justice in fullness in all the nations at the time of His second coming (42:4).

1“Behold! My Servant[Jesus]…in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him;
He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles[all nations]. 2He will not cry out…nor cause His voice to be heard in the street. 3A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench...4He will not fail nor be discouraged, till He has established justice in the earth…” (Isa. 42:1-4)

B.Justice: Justice is making wrong things right. It includes love being expressed in practical ways
in society—in personal relationships and in context to social and legal systems, etc.

C.Justice involves both positive and seemingly “negative” activities.

  1. The positive activities include the release of the Spirit’s presence and power, evangelism, physical healing, the restoration of broken lives and families, godly legislation that
    protects the oppressed, practical activities like feeding the poor or adopting a homeless child,
    various expressions of justice in the marketplace and in society at large, etc.
  2. The “negative” activities includeGod’s judgment that confronts oppressors (e.g., Antichrist’s empire) and divine discipline on God’s people to wake them: to restore their relationship with Jesus and to establish the first commandment in first place in their lives (Rev. 2-3).

D.In the end times, the subject of justice is a primary theme in both kingdoms—God’s and Satan’s.
The utopian dream of a world filled with justice has been in the human heart since Eden. Satan will capitalize on this “longing” to seduce multitudes with a false justice movement that disregards the Bible, Jesus, and His leadership(Ps. 2:1-3; Rev. 17).

  1. Satan will raise up a counterfeit justice movement in the end times using biblical terminology. I recommend Stuart Greaves’ book “False Justice.” The distorted-grace message opens wide the door for false justice by promoting a Christianity that is not based on what the Bible says about Jesus and His salvation nor does it call for genuine faith and repentance.
  2. God’s justice is only understood by those who have an eternal perspective. False justice is only focused on gaining temporary comfort and benefits without regard for the age to come.

E.Isaiah 42 provides the clearest biblical model for partnering with Jesus in establishing justice.
The kingdom approach to justice flows from a deep allegiance to Jesus (42:8) and a commitment
to righteous living (42:6) that is energized by intimacy with God (42:1). It is released in context
to intercessory worship (42:10-12) and believers operating in the power of the Holy Spirit (42:1), resulting in evangelism (42:17) and support for God’s purposes for Israel (42:7, 22).

F.One of the most important moments in IHOPKC’s history was on September 19, 2009, when
we committed by the grace of God to combine 24/7 prayers for justice with 24/7 works of justice.

II.The end-time Worship movement and Jesus’ second coming (42:9-15)

A.Isaiah prophesied a global intercessory worship movement (42:10-13) that will be connected to Jesus’ return (42:13) and the release of His end-time judgments (42:14-15). The end-time worship movement is a “justice movement” that culminates with the King of justice coming to earth.

9“Behold…new things I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.” 10Sing to the Lord
a new song, and His praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, youcoastlands…11Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar inhabits. Let the inhabitants of Selasing…from the top of the mountains …13The Lord shall go forth[Jesus’ return] like a mighty man; He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war. He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud; He shall prevail against His enemies…” (Isa. 42:9-13)

B.Jesus will lead the end-time church in the greatest worship and prayer movement in history.
It will be the greatest weapon on earth— i.e., the Bride of Christ in agreement with her King.
We believe God will establish 24/7 prayer with worship in every tribe and tongue before He returns.

C.The prophetic “new song” in Scripture is released by the Spirit at strategictimes when God is making a dramatic shift in salvation history. The new songs communicate God’s “new things” (42:9)that arerelated to the return of Jesus in power to save His people and judge His enemies.

D.Ends of the earth: Note 5 challenging regions that will engage in the end-time worship movement.
1) Go down to the sea: includes the nearly 12,000 inhabited islands of the earth;
2) Coastlands: includes the major population centers on the coastlands of the earth;
3) Wilderness: includes the small cities in the wilderness and desert regions of the earth;
4) Villages of Kedar and Sela: Islamic villages in Jordan (Sela) and Saudi Arabia (Kedar);
5) Mountain tops:Mountain tops are difficult place to assemble people for worship and prayer.

E.Jesus will prevail against His enemies by judging the Antichrist’s empire (42:13-15). Jesus has held His peace or is “silent” in terms of His end-time judgments openly confronting evil across the earth. Isaiah highlighted earthquakes and drought (42:15) that will destroy the Antichrist’s resources
(Isa. 2:10-21; 13:13; 29:6; Ezek. 38:19; Hag. 2:6; Heb. 12:26-27; Rev. 6:14; 11:6, 13; 16:18-20).

13The Lord shall go forth like a mighty man…He shall prevail against His enemies. 14“I have held My peace a long time; I have been still and restrained Myself. Now I will cry like a woman in labor…15I will lay waste the mountains and hills [by earthquakes], and dry up all their vegetation [drought]; I will make the rivers coastlands [by earthquakes]…” (Isa. 42:13-15)

F.Jesus anchored His mandate to bring justice to the earth to night-and-day prayer (Lk. 18:7-8).
This parable is connected to the Isaiah 42:4 prophecy of the Messiah releasing justice in the earth. The context ofJesus’ parable here is the end-time injustice of Antichrist that is stopped when the
“Son of Man comes” (Lk. 18:8) to destroy the Antichrist’s empire (Lk. 17:27, 37; Rev. 19:19-21).

7…“Will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night…? 8He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith[agreement] on the earth?” (Lk. 18:7-8)
