CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bobby Yarborough at 11:05 a.m.

ROLL CALL

The roll was called by Eric Lee.

Members present: Commissioner Mike Strain, DVM, Bobby Yarborough, Dr. Theresia Lavergne, Jerry Barnum, Jeanette Eisworth, Michael Ermon, and B. J. Sonnier.

Member absent: Scott Fernandez

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion: Dr. Theresia Lavergne made a motion to approve the minutes from the October 20, 2010 meeting. The motion was seconded by Jeanette Eisworth. Motion was passed.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

OLD BUSINESS

Eric Lee gave the division report from July 2010 through December 2010.

Bobby Babin presented the board a current financial report.

Motion: Michael Ermon made motion to approve the financial report. The motion was seconded by B. J. Sonnier. Motion was passed.

Bobby Babin gave the board an update on the promotional activities sponsored by the Egg Commission since the last meeting.

Motion: Michael Ermon made a motion to approve the financial report. The motion was seconded by B. J. Sonnier and passed.

Mr. Babin reviewed the promotional activities the Egg Commission participated in since the last board meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

Eric Lee informed the commission of the upcoming promotional activities.

Commissioner Mike Strain introduced the new department logo to promote buying fresh and buying local products.

Mr. Babin discussed the $1,000 awarded to the top LSU student in the USPEA National Poultry Judging contest and the $1,000 scholarship given for the Louisiana Poultry Industries Educational Foundation.

Motion: B. J. Sonnier made a motion to approve the USPEA National Poultry Judging contest award of $1,000 and the $1,000 Louisiana Poultry Industries Educational Foundation Scholarship. Jeanette Eisworth seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Bobby Babin reviewed the contract with Louisiana Life Magazine. He recommended the Egg Commission to participate in the July and August recipe issue for $1,700 and to participate in the calendar they produce in the same amount of $1,700.

Motion: Jeannette Eisworth made a motion to participate in the calendars and the July and August issues in the amount of $1,700 each. This motion was seconded by Dr. Theresia Lavergne. Motion was passed unanimously.

Natalie Glover introduced the new golf game the Egg Commission purchased for the Louisiana Restaurant Association. She also demonstrated the egg bean bag throw through a cardboard statue of Thibodeaux D’Eggeaux.

Dr. Theresia Lavergne asked the board to sponsor the Ag Magic, LSU Agriculture awareness event, the first week of May, 2011. She requested $500 sponsorship.

Motion: Dr. Theresia Lavergne made a motion to sponsor the $500 for the Ag Magic. Michael Ermon seconded the motion. Motion passed

FUTURE MEETING

The next meeting date of the Louisiana Egg Commission will be in October 12, 2011.

Motion: Jerry Barnum made a motion to adjourn at 11:45 a.m.. The motion was seconded by B. J. Sonnier and passed unanimously.
