YEAR 11 MOCK EXAMS 2016/17

INFORMATION BOOKLET

IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR YEAR 11 MOCK EXAMS TO BE DELIVERED UNDER EXAM CONDITIONS.

WEEK BEGINNING 7TH NOVEMBER 2016 WEEK 1

WEEK BEGINNING 14TH NOVEMBER 2016 WEEK 2

The procedures for these exams will be the same as for your external GCSE’s in May/June 2017, except your teachers will be invigilating these mock exams and marking your papers. For the external exams, trained exam invigilators will be present in your exam venues.

SEATING PLANS

For the exams in the Hall and Gym the seating plans will be on display in the canteen and outside the Hall the day before the exam. Please be aware that the seat numbers can be the same in both venues, so check the venue heading very carefully. Your desk will have your seat number on it and your candidate card which will show your name and candidate number. Our school centre number is 37176.

ENTRY INTO THE VENUE

You have to enter the venue in silence and place your coats and bags, where instructed to do so. The Hall doors are split into rows A to E and F to J. Please make sure you are waiting outside the correct door. In both venues, rows will be called one at a time. Sit at your desk, face the front at all times and remain in silence.

MOBILE PHONES, Ipods, MP3’s, Iphone watches, smart watches.

There will be on display, outside each venue, the JCQ “Warning to candidates” notice and the Mobile phone” notice. Mobile phones. Ipods, MP3’s, Iphone watches, smart watches or any other device used for communication are not allowed in the venues, either in your bags or on your person.

EQUIPMENT

Please be aware that you are responsible for providing all your equipment for your mock exams and external exams. We do not have any equipment to lend to you. You will always require a black pen NOT blue. You may require a calculator or mathematical equipment, so please check beforehand. The library sells all the necessary stationary you need.

Only still water, in clear bottles, without labels, are allowed in the venue. No food or sweets.

THE START OF THE EXAM

A member of staff will read out all the instructions necessary before the exam can start. Please listen to those instructions very carefully. The only difference between these exams and the external GCSE’s is that your teacher will mark your paper and not an examiner.

DURING THE EXAM

You must sit quietly for the duration of the exam and not distract other students. You will only be allowed to leave when the scheduled time has finished. If you have a problem or query you may put your hand up and a member of staff will come to you.

AT THE END OF THE EXAM

You will be instructed, a row at a time, to get up, collect your bags and coats and sit back down at your desk. You will do this in silence. You will then be asked if you have all your own belongings, to

check if you have anything missing. Once this has been determined, you will then be dismissed, a row at a time, in silence.

ABSENCES

If you are ill on the day of your mock exam please contact school in the usual way.
