RESPONSIBLE TO / Systems Manager
Summary of Job:
To assist the Systems Manager and Senior Network Technician in the day to day management of the school’s ICT network. To provide a high level of technical support to colleagues and students.
  1. Contribute to the efficient day to day running and maintenance of the school network and Internet in liaison with the Systems Manager and Senior Network Technician. This includes basic management of user accounts and print quotas.
  2. To provide prioritised technical support and advice across the school for both staff and students. This includes monitoring the IT helpdesk and completing support requests as appropriate.
  3. To install and test new/existing ICT equipment including hardware, software and peripherals. This includes all peripheral items such as interactive whiteboards, amplifiers, projectors, printers, scanners etc. Software installations must be carried out in accordance with licensing laws.
  4. To perform basic troubleshooting and diagnosis of PC, network and software issues (including peripherals) and perform basic maintenance, repairs and upgrades. This will also involve logging support calls with third party suppliers where appropriate and ensuring service levels are adhered to.
  5. To respect the confidential nature of all network data and ensure data protection and security are maintained at all times, reporting any concerns to the Systems Manager.
  6. To assist in the setup and delivery of audio/visual presentations as and when required.
  7. To ensure that all ICT suites are kept in a clean and tidy manner and perform start/end of day procedures as directed by the Systems Manager.
  8. To work in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with health and safety procedures and perform relevant health and safety checks. This includes visual inspections of ICT suites and carrying out portable appliance testing on an annual basis.
  9. To contribute to the work of the Network Team under the supervision of the Systems Manager and Senior Network Technician in the delivery of projects and support requests.
  10. To monitor levels of consumable items and report any purchasing requirements to the Systems Manager.
  11. To demonstrate a willingness to work flexibly, occasionally outside of normal hours with prior arrangement with the Systems Manager.
  12. To perform such other tasks as may be reasonably required by the Systems Manager, Senior Network Technician or member of the Leadership Team.
  13. To be available on an ad hoc basis to take part in supervising lessons, school trips, taking responsibility for a group of students.
  14. To undertake appropriate training and professional development, as required by the school and in consultation with the line manager and Headteacher.
  15. To comply with school policies and procedures (including those relating to Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, confidentiality and data protection) and uphold the ethos of the school.
