COMMUNITY BASKETBALL LEAGUE

MEETING MINUTES

October 10, 2010

The meeting was called to order by President Miller at 7:15 p.m. at the Forks Community Center.

§  Attendance: absentees:

Commissioner, Bethlehem Hurricanes, OLPH, Phillipsburg Falcons, Phillipsburg PAL, Pleasant Valley, St. Jane’s, Williams, Wind Gap

§  Secretary’s Report: The minutes from the previous meeting were amended with the correct attendance and approved.

§  Treasurer’s Report: 2010 Season Balance: 3,990.27

Deposits: 85.00

Checks & Fees: -2,961.17

Balance to date: $1,114.10

§  Old Business:

Birth certificates on file from last season that have not been picked up are available for those organizations.

A review of the amended rule request was held. The new rule – approved by the organization shall be as follows:

Play two 20-minute halves with a running clock. The clock stops for all whistles during the last two (2) minutes of each half and last two minutes of each overtime period.

§  New Business:

A new organization, Lehigh Valley Academy, was present and expressed an interest in joining the league. Hanover Twp. Community Center would be the anticipated home gym with the organization responsible for their own officials. An official letter and request for admittance will be forwarded to the league prior to the next meeting.

Palisades would like to host a U-11 boys tournament, Tuesday and Wednesday, December 28 & 29. Any interested organization is asked to contact Brandon Kinsey (610-982-9339) or .

An issue with payment of referee fees was addressed. Some township officials have expressed a concern with paying cash to referees. It was noted that there is no tax issue when the amount paid is kept below the government guideline threshold (currently at $500 per individual).

It was confirmed that referee fees are $25 per official per game.

Review of important league dates:

December 8, 2010 Season starts – competitive divisions

January 15, 2010 Start for instructional divisions

February 20, 2011 Last day of season play for U-15

February 26-27, 2011 Playoffs

March 13, 2011 End of regular season

March 19-20, 2011 Start of playoffs

March 26-27, 2011 Finals

Gym and team information is due by noon on Saturday November, 13th, into the collector on the league website. Please refer to the Representative Docs on the CBL website if you need further assistance.

A request was made to add a field in the coaches’ contact information for their e-mail address. This field will be added and made available for representatives to add that information when entering their team/coach data.

It was highly recommended that all organizations have a Code of Conduct Policy in place and enforced with their teams, coaches and parents.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

The next meeting will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Forks Community Center.
